[Remote] Vice President of Development and Marketing

The VP of Development and Marketing is responsible for providing strategic leadership and execution oversight for all fundraising and marketing efforts of the organization, driving revenue growth and strengthening brand presence through integrated strategies.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with leadership to develop and execute a comprehensive national fundraising strategy across foundation, corporate, and individual givingSet and achieve annual and multi-year fundraising goals in alignment with the organization’s strategic planOversee donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies to deepen engagement and retentionAnalyze fundraising performance data to guide strategy, investment decisions, and continuous improvementProvide centralized training, resources and support to Executive Directors who are accountable for fundraising in their statesCollaborate with leadership on revenue strategy to sustain and grow in existing and new statesEnsure compliance with all ethical, legal, and regulatory standards related to fundraising activitiesProvide strategic oversight of marketing, communications, and brand positioning to support fundraising, member recruitment, and mission impactEnsure consistent, compelling messaging across digital, print, media, and stakeholder communicationsAlign marketing campaigns with development goals to drive awareness, engagement, and donor conversionOversee digital strategy, including web presence, email marketing, and social media platformsMonitor brand performance and market trends to adapt messaging and outreach strategiesLead, mentor, and develop high-performing development and marketing teamsPartner closely with the President, executive leadership, executive directors, and board to advance fundraising prioritiesSupport President in board engagement for fundraising through training, tools, and strategic involvementFoster cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment between programs, finance, and developmentAt the direction of the President represent the organization externally with donors, partners, and key stakeholdersOther duties as assignedSkillsBachelor's degree is required in nonprofit management, business, marketing, communications, or a related fieldMinimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit development or advancementDemonstrated success building and leading large-scale, multi-channel fundraising programs with measurable resultsExperience overseeing marketing, communications, or brand strategy in a mission-driven organizationProven ability to build and maintain relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporate partnersStrong strategic planning, financial acumen, and data-driven decision-making skillsExperience leading and developing senior-level teams in a complex organizationAbility to partner effectively with executive leadership and boards in a national nonprofit environmentAbility to travel locally and nationally as needed to attend meetingsAbility to communicate effectively with people/groups in multiple settings within and outside the organizationAbility to effectively utilize existing and emerging technology to achieve required resultsAbility to transport moderately heavy objects up to 25 poundsIs excited about building a fundraising and development program and systemsEnjoys working in a highly collaborative environmentThrives in a role where they coach and support others to do their best workBenefitsMedicalHSADentalVisionFSALifeDisabilityPTO401(k)Company OverviewAs a nonprofit organization, we’ve been growing since the early 2000s when our first program, Reading Corps, launched in 2003.
