As Vice President of Business Development, you will drive strategic partnerships across the biopharma ecosystem and play a critical role in bringing breakthrough diagnostics and therapies to patients worldwide.ResponsibilitiesDefine and execute the business development strategy for Guardant’s Biopharma organization, including partnership models, collaboration frameworks, and revenue growth initiativesBuild and maintain strategic relationships with senior executives across the drug development continuum—from discovery and translational oncology through clinical and commercial—to drive adoption of Guardant Health’s technologiesLead high-impact customer and partner engagements, representing Guardant Health at the executive level and clearly articulating the value of Guardant’s platform across clinical trials, companion diagnostics, and drug commercializationPartner cross-functionally with Product Development, Clinical Development, Laboratory Operations, Bioinformatics, Marketing, Scientific Affairs, and Regulatory teams to deliver integrated, partner-centric solutionsBuild, lead, and develop a high-performing business development team, driving accountability, strategic execution, and commercial excellenceServe as a member of the Senior Management Team, contributing to enterprise strategy, growth planning, and organizational leadershipAlign internal capabilities with partner needs, fostering collaboration and driving solutions that leverage Guardant’s scientific and commercial strengthsSkillsBachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree (PhD, MD, MBA) preferred15+ years of business development experience in life sciences, diagnostics, or precision medicine, including significant leadership and team management responsibilityDemonstrated success building and leading high-performing teams and consistently achieving or exceeding revenue targetsDeep expertise in precision oncology, molecular diagnostics, and genomics, including strong knowledge of NGS technologies, liquid biopsy, and translational researchProven track record of structuring, negotiating, and closing complex, high-value partnerships that drive sustained business growthStrong understanding of oncology pipelines, targeted therapies, and precision medicine trends, including regulatory and companion diagnostic considerationsEstablished network of senior relationships across biopharma and translational medicine, with the ability to generate and accelerate strategic opportunitiesExceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across functions and levels, and effectively translate complex scientific and strategic concepts into clear, compelling value propositionsStrong strategic thinking, analytical capability, and sound business judgmentExperienced people leader with a track record of developing talent and fostering a high-performance, collaborative cultureEntrepreneurial and results-oriented, with the ability to balance long-term strategy and near-term executionBenefitsHybrid Work Model: This section is applicable to onsite employees who are eligible for hybrid work location as specified by management and related policies.
