[Remote] UX/UI Designer (Desk Phones)

In this role, you will own the end-to-end UX of Sangoma’s desk phone and device experiences, focusing on designing for embedded, hardware-constrained environments and ensuring usability across the product lifecycle.ResponsibilitiesOwn the end-to-end UX of Sangoma’s desk phone and device experiences, from interaction models to executionDesign for embedded, hardware-constrained environments with physical inputs, limited screens, and real-time expectationsDefine task-driven workflows for core telephony functions: calling, transfers, conferencing, voicemail, call handling, and moreDevelop and maintain UI artifacts including flows, wireframes, interaction specs, and system behaviors prioritizing speed, predictability, and low cognitive loadIntegrate AI tools across the design, implementation, and maintenance phase of product lifecyclePartner closely with firmware engineers to ensure designs are implemented accurately and perform reliably in productionWork with Product Management/Ownership to align UX decisions with real-world usage, customer needs, and business outcomesAnticipate edge cases, failure states, and recovery paths in real-time communication scenariosResearch regulatory factors and usability constraintsSupport the engineering team by contributing to usability testing and iterate based on real user behaviorHelp drive consistency and usability across Sangoma’s broader device ecosystemSkillsMinimum of 1 to 3 years of experience (3 years preferred) in UX and user interface design, product design, or interaction designYou are naturally curious, eager to learn, and motivated to understand how design decisions translate into real behaviorDemonstrated experience designing, task-focused, workflow-driven interfacesStrong understanding of human–computer interaction (HCI) principles, including cognitive load, affordances, and error preventionAbility to communicate UX rationale clearly to engineers and non-design stakeholdersProficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or similarExperience with telephony, VoIP, or enterprise communications productsExperience designing for constrained or non-traditional platforms, such as embedded devices, hardware products, enterprise tools, or operational systemsUnderstanding of localization and internationalization considerationsPrior exposure to usability testing or field studies in enterprise or operational environmentsBenefitsExtensive Benefit Options (Health, Vision, Dental, Long & Short-term Disability) effective after a short waiting periodMatching 401K program - 100% match on 4%Employee Stock Purchase Plan after one year of serviceFlexible Time Off & Company HolidaysEntrepreneurial work environment partnered with high growth career opportunitiesCompany OverviewEstablished more than 20 years ago, NetFortris has grown to become the leading provider of secure cloud communication solutions to forward-thinking, mid-sized and enterprise businesses.
