[Remote] UX/UI Designer

The role involves conducting user research, designing wireframes and prototypes, and collaborating with various stakeholders to improve usability and efficiency in high-impact environments.ResponsibilitiesConduct user research to deeply understand the workflows, pain points, and goals of industrial users including operators, technicians, and engineersPlan and execute interviews, usability studies, field observations, surveys, and other research activities that generate actionable insightsTransform research findings into personas, journey maps, workflows, and product recommendationsDesign intuitive wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes for industrial web, desktop, and embedded applicationsCreate modern, scalable user experiences for complex operational systems and data-driven applicationsCollaborate closely with software developers, automation engineers, and product stakeholders throughout the product lifecycleAdvocate for the user during planning, design, and implementation decisionsIterate rapidly based on user feedback, analytics, and evolving business needsHelp establish and maintain design systems, UI standards, and reusable component librariesBring clarity and simplicity to environments where complexity is often considered 'normal'SkillsBachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Industrial Design, Psychology, or related field5-7 years of experience in UX/UI research and designProven experience designing complex B2B, industrial, or operational software applicationsStrong proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XDExcellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skillsStrong understanding of usability principles, interaction design, and information architectureAbility to balance user needs, technical constraints, and business goals in fast-moving environmentsExperience working in Agile product development environmentsExperience in manufacturing, automation, or other industrial environmentsFamiliarity with SCADA systems, PLC interfaces, MES systems, or operational technology platformsBackground in human factors engineering or cognitive psychologyExperience building and maintaining design systems and component librariesPassion for making highly technical systems feel approachable and intuitiveBenefitsFlexible work schedule with work from home options for many rolesTransparent communication from leadershipCompetitive compensation including a bonus planNo more than a 4 week waiting period on all benefits including the 401kA manager that is coolβ¦most of the time, because no one is perfectA path for growth, a great culture, PTO, AND MORE!Company OverviewVertech focuses on manufacturing, engineering and software development in industrial control systems.
