[Remote] Underwriting Support Specialist II

They are seeking an Underwriting Support Specialist to ensure accurate manual rates for group insurance products, review quote submissions, and collaborate with Underwriting teams to meet deadlines.ResponsibilitiesMust be able to generate accurate manual rates for group insurance products, ensuring compliance with established policies, procedures, and guidelinesReview the quote submission to determine what is being requested and ensure all required info has been provided; follow-up on missing information; over time learn what can be quoted with assumptions vs what is absolutely requiredEnsure accurate formatting of census data, extracting key information for ratingReview plan design information to match in-force plan designs and/or alternates as requested based on a review of Requests for Proposal, Benefit Summaries, complex contracts, and/or internal systemsAccurately evaluate SIC classifications for Employer GroupsPartner closely with Underwriting to meet or exceed turnaround time based on broker due datesConsult with Underwriters for signoff on non-standard and/or complex plan design requestsWorks on cases of all sizes, all products, with varying degrees of complexityProvide support to peer group for high volume transaction periods and during absencesPartner with other teams to provide support across the organization during high demandMay assist with building new business proposals, in-force business, and/or renewalsSkillsHigh school diploma or GED required0-2 years of progressive experience in customer service and/or employee benefits, or equivalent college level courseworkCritical thinking skills, with an ability to effectively analyze and solve problemsAbility to prioritize, organize, complete multiple tasks and accurately handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced environmentBalance of math skills with the ability to read contracts and identify pertinent dataOperate with a high sense of urgency, meet/exceed deadlines and productivity targetsStrong verbal and written communication skillsHighly motivated and proactive, with the ability to work well independently and within a teamStrong attention to detail with a keen focus on quality and accuracyStrong customer service skills, willingness to help across the teamWillingness to adapt to a rapidly changing environmentFamiliarity with Microsoft applications such as, Teams, Outlook, Word and Excel, as well as SalesforceAvailability to work between 5:00 am and 5:00 pm PST, Monday through Friday, with flexibility to cover non-standard shifts as needed, given advance noticeBenefitsMedicalDentalVisionWellbeing Reimbursement AccountPaid Time OffHoliday SchedulesFinancial Planning Time OffPaid Parental LeaveAdoption Assistance Program401k savings plan with company matchAdditional contribution regardless of participationCompany OverviewPacific Life Insurance is an insurance company that provides life insurance products, annuities, and mutual funds.
