The consultant will help assess current accounting treatment, review loss/reserve/payment timing, evaluate policies, and prepare a professional report with findings and recommendations.ResponsibilitiesReview current accounting treatment for a risk-related fund/accountAssess accounting considerations related to losses, reserves, payments, liabilities, and related entriesReview policy alignment and identify gaps, inconsistencies, or areas needing clarificationInterpret client-provided financial reports and supporting documentationProvide a professional report with findings and recommendationsCommunicate clearly with the client regarding questions, observations, and recommended next stepsSkillsActive CPA license in the State of TexasGovernment accounting experienceExperience reviewing accounting treatment, financial reporting, account activity, or policy alignmentAbility to prepare professional findings and recommendationsStrong written communication and documentation skillsAbility to work independently in a remote consulting environmentExperience supporting counties, municipalities, large cities, public agencies, or similar government entitiesExperience with risk funds, claims, reserves, losses, self-insurance, workers' compensation, liability accounting, or related financial risk areasFamiliarity with SAP financial reporting or ability to interpret SAP-generated financial reportsIndependent CPA consulting, CPA practice ownership, or small firm consulting experienceExperience preparing assessment reports, accounting memos, audit-style findings, or client-facing recommendationsCompany OverviewGTS Technology Solutions is an IT company that provides technology solutions.
