[Remote] Telecommunications & Network Infrastructure Design Engineer

The Telecommunications & Network Infrastructure Design Engineer will support the planning, design, and implementation of telecommunications infrastructure across the Rowan data center portfolio, developing standards and designs for various telecommunications systems.ResponsibilitiesDevelop telecommunications infrastructure standards for Rowan data centersDesign and review ISP and OSP telecommunications systems, including conduit pathways, duct banks, handholes, vaults, and fiber distribution networksDefine fiber backbone architectures, route diversity requirements, and capacity planning strategiesSupport Carrier Entrance Facilities (CEF), Building Entry Facilities (BEF), Meet-Me Rooms (MMR), Main Distribution Frames (MDF), and Intermediate Distribution Frames (IDF) design and standardsCoordinate telecommunications requirements across campus and building infrastructureDevelop and maintain structured cabling standards for fiber optic and copper infrastructureReview telecommunications room layouts, rack elevations, pathways, and cable routing designsSupport fiber allocation planning, patching strategies, labeling standards, and cable management practicesCoordinate carrier access requirements, dark fiber connectivity, lit services, and interconnection strategiesReview of customer telecommunications requirements and Owner Project Requirements (OPRs)Support telecommunications commissioning activities, including fiber testing, OTDR validation, certification review, and turnover documentationReview telecommunications submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and construction documents for compliance with Rowan standardsSupport the design and implementation of IT and OT network infrastructure within Rowan data centersCoordinate network requirements for Building Management Systems (BMS) and related operational technologiesAssist with network topology development, IP addressing strategies, resiliency requirements, and infrastructure standardsReview network equipment layouts, rack elevations, and telecommunications infrastructure requirements to ensure alignment with overall facility designCoordinate with network engineers, controls vendors, and operations teams during design, construction, commissioning, and turnover activitiesCollaborate with architects, civil engineers, MEP engineers, contractors, customers, and telecommunications consultantsParticipate in design reviews, constructability reviews, value engineering exercises, and project coordination meetingsSupport procurement activities, vendor evaluations, and technical scope reviewsAssist with change management, issue resolution, and project execution from design through commissioningSkills5+ years of telecommunications infrastructure design experienceExperience supporting hyperscale, colocation, mission-critical, or large-scale industrial facilitiesStrong understanding of ISP/OSP telecommunications design principlesExperience with structured cabling systems, fiber optic infrastructure, and carrier connectivityFamiliarity with Carrier Entrance Facilities, Meet-Me Rooms, MDFs, IDFs, and telecommunications room designWorking knowledge of IT/OT network infrastructure and BMS network requirementsKnowledge of BICSI, TIA, and telecommunications industry standardsExperience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documentsStrong communication, coordination, and project management skillsRCDD certification preferredBenefitsOffers BonusHybrid working environmentTeam building and educational opportunitiesCompany OverviewRowan Digital Infrastructure designs to deliver low-cost net zero solutions to green data centers It was founded in 2020, and is headquartered in Houston, Texas, USA, with a workforce of 51-200 employees.
