They are seeking a Technical Writer to support a large federal agency's cybersecurity program, translating technical documentation and cybersecurity guidance into clear written content. The role involves collaboration with cybersecurity engineers and analysts to produce high-quality deliverables that enhance the agency's security posture.ResponsibilitiesTranslate complex cybersecurity concepts, processes, and technical findings into plain-language written content for a range of audiences, including non-technical stakeholdersDevelop and maintain technical documentation including policies, procedures, user guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and program reportsApply knowledge of NIST, NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), and CIS Controls to inform and structure documentation deliverablesCollaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and program managers to gather technical information and validate accuracySupport cybersecurity program communications, including presentations, briefings, and executive summariesReview and edit existing documentation for clarity, consistency, accuracy, and compliance with agency style standardsAssist in documenting AI tools and their appropriate use within the program contextMaintain version control and documentation repositories in accordance with program standardsParticipate in team meetings and contribute to sprint planning or project milestone reviews as applicableSkills2–3 years of experience in technical writing within a cybersecurity or IT environmentDemonstrated ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear, natural-language content for diverse audiencesFamiliarity with NIST, NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), and/or CIS ControlsGeneral cybersecurity experience sufficient to understand subject matter and collaborate effectively with technical staffU.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency (Green Card)Ability to successfully complete a federal background check and obtain public trust clearanceAll work must be performed within the continental United StatesExperience supporting federal agency or government contracting environmentsFamiliarity with AI tools and their application in a professional writing or documentation contextExperience with document management systems or version control platformsProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, or similar collaboration toolsExposure to additional cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., RMF, FedRAMP, FISMA)Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related fieldBenefitsMedical — Multiple POS health plan options including an HSA-compatible planDental — PPO coverage for preventive, basic, and major servicesVision — Annual exam, frames, lenses, and contact lens allowance401(k) — Employer match up to 5% of eligible compensationPTO — 15–25 days annually based on tenure, plus 16 hours of Floating PTO from day onePaid Federal Holidays — All 11 federal holidays observedCompany OverviewThe Dragonfli Group is a Washington, DC based LLC specializing in management and technology consulting.
