[Remote] Technical Writer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Remote Writers (RWJ) is seeking an experienced Technical Writer for a heavy-equipment manufacturing client. The role involves producing technical manuals for railroad maintenance equipment, requiring collaboration with engineers and technicians to gather necessary information. Responsibilities Produce technical manuals for operators and maintenance personnel of specialized railroad maintenance equipment Update and develop new documents as required Work with engineers, technicians, developers, and manufacturing personnel to gather information for manual content Include setup/calibration, startup, operation, shutdown, maintenance, troubleshooting, schematics, and parts-replacement information in manuals Skills Must be able to work with engineers, technicians, developers, and manufacturing personnel to 'mine' information for manual content Previous experience in an engineering and manufacturing environment is necessary to be successful The candidate should be comfortable with many of the following technologies: hydraulics, pneumatics, diesel power, drive-trains, clutches, servo motors, HDMI screens, lead acid and lithium battery power supplies, PLCs, and so on Must have a strong background in the use of Adobe FrameMaker (unstructured) Working experience using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat Familiarity or some knowledge of CMS, DITA, and XML Adobe FrameMaker: 1 year (Required) Bachelor's (Preferred) Remote, Anywhere (US Preferred) Company Overview Based in the United States, RWJ shares remote work resources and opportunities to help liberate our international family of editors, ghostwriters, copywriters, digital nomads, and content developers.
