Yahoo is a trusted guide for hundreds of millions of people globally, and they are seeking a Tech News Writer to expand their coverage of technology news and analysis. The role involves writing original content, commissioning freelancers, and contributing to the overall news output of Yahoo Tech and Engadget. Responsibilities • Write several news and feature stories focusing on the biggest events and trends in the tech space each week with a general-interest angle • Write multiple tech news summaries each week that can double as a newsletter • Work with the SEO team to identify and write fast-turnaround news stories designed to maximize news box traffic • Commission, assign and edit freelancers to help with the above tasks, as well as longer-lead explainers and how-to stories • Initiate periodic (weekly, biweekly, monthly) updates of evergreen explainers to maintain organic and news box search traffic Skills • Proven ability to produce clean, well-researched copy, and to sometimes juggle multiple deadlines • Experience covering consumer technology and news in the AI space • Ability to identify, on-board and edit trusted freelancers • Works well with others, and is receptive to feedback • Experience and comfort writing and editing stories to search optimization Benefits • Healthcare • A great 401k • Backup childcare • Education stipends • Much (much) more Company Overview • Yahoo is a technology and media company that serves users through its portfolio of digital platforms, products, and services.
