[Remote] System Design Engineer

Bee Talent Solutions is seeking a Contractor for their client to fill the role of System Design Engineer, focused on system design for advanced nuclear reactor projects. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team of engineers and scientists, overseeing system design and integration efforts.ResponsibilitiesDesign of fluid systems from development of requirements through final design and commissioningPerform technical trade studies and decisions to refine system designOversee suppliers during development and fabrication of gas processing, filtration, and monitoring equipmentReview component designs in the context of the greater system design to determine how detailed design of components impacts the greater systemPrepare system level engineering documentation including technical specifications and operations narrativesReview system documentation to anticipate and resolve system and plant level integration issues before they are realizedSupport design reviews as system designs are established and refinedDevelop and review technical design documents, such as System Design Descriptions, Interface Control Documents, Engineering Design Specifications, etcGenerate design packages for system designs including coordinating of calculations, design reports, drawings, and specificationsInterface with the design team to create and manage drawing packages of system designs, including but not limited to Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), 3D models, and system interface drawingsInterface with various design disciplines (such as mechanical, instrumentation and controls, civil, and nuclear) to identify and develop system design and performance criteriaPropose and initiate testing programs for system development and qualificationProvide Support and oversight during test execution, evaluation of test results, and reporting of test resultsSkillsB.S. in Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university and 5+ years direct experience with proven mechanical systems skillsExperience with piping systems and the ability to read and draw P&IDsExperience working with suppliers in development and fabrication of safety-related equipmentStrong understanding of design codes (ASME, BPVC, API)Familiar with safety classifications of systems, structures, and componentsFamiliar with piping design and analysisExperience working to quality standards on design activities, such as ASME NQA-1, AS 9100, ISO 9001, or equivalentMust be a self-starter and possess ability to coordinate with minimal directionAbility to handle projects that include many competing objectives and design constraints, with ability to resolve conflicts between objectivesThe successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, able to communicate openly, and display respect and a desire to foster teamworkAttention to detail and aspiration for technical excellenceStrong communication skills desiredCompany OverviewBee Talent Solutions provides business consulting and provisioning talent solutions for engineering and life sciences companies.
