[Remote] Sustaining Engineering Manager

This role involves leading a multidisciplinary team to ensure the reliability and continuous improvement of released products while collaborating with various departments to meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements.ResponsibilitiesOwn the sustaining engineering function for released products throughout their lifecycleLead and develop a growing team of sustaining engineers supporting Hyper's expanding product portfolioManage engineering change requests (ECRs), engineering change orders (ECOs), deviations, and product modificationsDrive continuous improvement initiatives focused on product reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, quality, and cost optimizationEstablish and maintain sustaining engineering processes, metrics, and best practicesCollaborate with New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to ensure smooth product transitions into productionPartner with Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to resolve production issues and prevent recurrenceSupport root cause investigations related to manufacturing nonconformances, field failures, and customer concernsIdentify and implement corrective and preventive actions that improve product performance and manufacturing efficiencyMaintain product documentation including bills of material (BOMs), drawings, schematics, assembly instructions, and test proceduresSupport component substitutions, obsolescence management, and supplier-driven design changesLead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for customer-reported issues and field failuresInterface with customers, field service personnel, and internal stakeholders to diagnose and resolve technical issuesDrive resolution of product quality concerns while maintaining customer confidence and satisfactionSupport warranty and reliability improvement initiativesEnsure sustained compliance with applicable UL standards, customer specifications, and internal quality requirementsSupport audits, product certifications, and regulatory compliance activities as neededUtilize structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, A3, 5-Why, and Ishikawa analysisChampion a culture of continuous improvement across engineering and manufacturing operationsSkillsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline7+ years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment2+ years of leadership or people management experience with direct reportsExperience supporting released products through sustaining engineering, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related functionsStrong understanding of engineering change management processes including ECOs, ECRs, and document controlExperience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actionsAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawingsStrong cross-functional collaboration and communication skillsExperience with power distribution equipment including switchboards, PDUs, RPPs, UPS systems, switchgear, or related electrical infrastructureFamiliarity with UL 891, UL 1062, UL 67, or similar electrical product standardsExperience supporting products within data center, critical power, industrial electrical, or related industriesExperience with ERP and PLM systems such as NetSuite, Arena, or similar platformsLean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement training or certificationsExperience managing multidisciplinary engineering teamsBenefitsDiscretionary bonus plus commission structureEmployer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage401(k) with company matchSignificant opportunities for professional growth, leadership development, and career advancementCompany OverviewHyper is redefining how mission-critical infrastructure gets built.
