[Remote] Substation Project Manager

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Substation Project Manager to support large-scale renewable energy infrastructure projects, focusing on high-voltage substation design, engineering, and execution. This role involves managing projects from preconstruction through commissioning, ensuring successful delivery across scope, schedule, budget, and quality.ResponsibilitiesLead the full lifecycle of high-voltage substation projects (typically tied to solar, wind, or BESS developments), from planning and design through construction and commissioningManage project scope, schedule, and budget while ensuring alignment with client objectives and regulatory requirementsCoordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), and subcontractorsOversee the development and review of Substation design packages (physical and protection & controls)One-lines, relay settings, and equipment specificationDrive procurement strategy and long-lead equipment coordination (transformers, breakers, switchgear)Lead project meetings, track milestones, and proactively mitigate risks and delaysEnsure compliance with NEC, NESC, IEEE standards, and utility interconnection requirementsSupport construction execution, including field coordination, issue resolution, and quality controlOversee testing, commissioning, and system energization activitiesManage client communication, reporting, and stakeholder alignment throughout project lifecycleSkillsBachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering7+ years of experience in substation design and engineering, specifically supporting high-voltage substation projectsStrong understanding of substation layouts, grounding, and protection systemsHigh-voltage equipment (transformers, breakers, relays, switchgear)Experience working across project lifecycle phases (design → construction → commissioning → closeout)Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and drive projects forward in a fast-paced environmentExperience in Project Engineering and/or Project Management, with a strong bias for action and ownership mindsetPMP (Project Management Professional) certificationProfessional Engineer (P.E.) license in a related disciplineExperience supporting renewable energy, utility, or transmission & distribution projectsCompany OverviewInsight Global provides top talent and staffing solutions that help job seekers find careers in healthcare, finance, IT, and government.
