They are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development of the Content Platform, focusing on improving the availability, scalability, and efficiency of Reddit’s products.ResponsibilitiesDesign, write, and deliver software to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Reddit’s products in Go and sometimes PythonDive deep into the codebase of a suite of services owned by the team as well as one of Reddit’s monolith legacy stackBe able to make system level improvements, enhancements and implement complex code modificationsOwn the design & evolution of our platform and build for the next 4+ years of continued scale and growth of RedditIdentify gaps in our current designs and lead redesigns of our platform to improve developer velocity and enable Reddit growthWork collaboratively with other software engineers from Infra and Product orgsCollaborate closely with engineering teams and stakeholders to integrate storage capabilities into broader storage infrastructure and use cases across RedditMentor and guide other backend engineers across the companySkills7+ years of hands-on experience building internet-scale software, distributed systems or platforms used by other developersBS, MS, PhD in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experienceSoftware development experience in one or more general purpose programming languages; Golang, Python, C++, JavaPrior experience and capability with scaled, high rate platform services, and API design.
