[Remote] Staff Data Engineer

They are seeking a Staff Data Engineer to evolve their data platform, ensuring its reliability and performance while supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization.ResponsibilitiesArchitect and evolve our data platform for scale and reliabilityDefine and implement advanced platform engineering test practices, including automated data integrity checks and CI/CD pipelines to ensure data qualityAct as a technical leader and mentor for the data engineering team, setting standards for system design and platform reliabilityMaintain and support the enterprise data platform and existing data pipelinesEnsure reliable data ingestion, transformation, and reporting across Checkfront, Manifest, Regiondo, and RezdyMonitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across the data stack to ensure data accuracy and availabilityWork closely with internal business users to understand their reporting and analytics requirementsDesign and implement new data models in BigQuery using dbt based on business needsMaintain and manage data ingestion pipelinesDeliver clean, well-structured datasets that power reporting and dashboards in GoodData or Google SheetsOptimize BigQuery queries and data models for performance and cost efficiencyEnsure data quality, documentation, and governance across the data platformSet up a testing and validation framework to automatically ensure data integrity across the platformContribute to data platform monitoring, alerting, and platform reliabilitySkillsSignificant experience designing, building, and operating high-scale, distributed data platformsStrong experience with SQL and data modeling in modern cloud data warehousesHands-on experience with Google BigQueryExperience using dbt for transformation and data modelingExperience with data ingestion tools such as Fivetran or similar ELT platformsExperience supporting analytics platforms or BI toolsStrong understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modelingExpertise in maintaining and operating production data pipelines and platformsAbility to work with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data modelsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and documentation skillsProven track record of mentoring engineers and improving technical standardsExperience leading large-scale architectural migrationsAbility to influence cross-functional roadmaps and communicate complex technical conceptsCompany OverviewThe world’s leading online booking and distribution platform powering the experiences industry.
