[Remote] Staff Accountant

They are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting operations and ensure financial integrity across US and UK entities.ResponsibilitiesOwn the day-to-day accounting operations across US and UK entities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenanceSupport the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reportingPrepare and post journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analyses in line with US GAAP and applicable UK standardsAssist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and KPI reporting packs for the VP, Finance and senior leadershipOwn accounts payable and receivable workflows, including invoice processing, vendor management, and cash applicationSupport revenue recognition processes in line with ASC 606, working across the subscription and professional services components of our SaaS business modelCollaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, and Customer Success on contract reviews, billing queries, and revenue-related mattersAssist with the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors, ensuring documentation is accurate and audit-readyMonitor and maintain internal controls, identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and systems as we scaleContribute to ad hoc financial analysis, modelling, and projects as directed by the VP, Finance, including supporting board-level reporting and investor-facing materialsSkillsBachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA qualification or active pursuit strongly preferredSeveral years of demonstrable, hands-on accounting experience, ideally within a SaaS or technology businessExperience working across both US and UK finance functions, with an understanding of multi-currency, multi-entity environmentsDemonstrable experience in a scale-up or high-growth business, with comfort operating in fast-paced, evolving environmentsWorking knowledge of US GAAP; familiarity with UK GAAP or IFRS is a plusProficiency with modern accounting software (e.g. NetSuite, QuickBooks, Xero) and strong Excel/Google Sheets skillsProven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate output under deadline pressureStrong communicator with the ability to translate numbers into clear, actionable insight for non-finance stakeholdersMeticulous attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and financial integrityMetrics and data-driven mindset — comfortable building, owning, and interrogating financial dashboards and reportsHigh degree of ownership and accountability; a self-starter who manages their own workload without close supervisionAbility to thrive in ambiguity, adapt to change quickly, and contribute constructively in a scaling environmentStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across geographies and functionsAnalytical thinker who can move between detail-level transaction review and higher-level business insightProactive approach to process improvement — always looking for smarter, more scalable ways of workingComfortable working across time zones, with US East Coast hours as a baseline and regular UK collaborationExperience supporting or contributing to fundraising, audit, or board reporting processes is advantageousA genuine interest in the life sciences and technology space is a plusBenefitsA competitive salary and benefits packageFlexibility to work remotely, with opportunities to travelA comprehensive onboarding and training programmeOngoing opportunities for professional growth and developmentA collaborative, inclusive and supportive work environmentCompany OverviewSapio Sciences' mission is to improve lives by accelerating discovery, and because science is complex, Sapio makes technology simple.
