[Remote] Sr. Tax Accountant

Serrala is the global leader in finance process automation, and they are seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. The role involves tax research, managing tax returns, and advising management on tax laws impacting the corporation.ResponsibilitiesReconcile all tax-related general ledger accounts monthly to ensure account balances are accurate and fully supported with detailed backupReconcile customer sales and tax details across various systems (including SAP and Avalara) to ensure sales tax filings are accurate; investigate, correct, and document any discrepanciesEnsure all required sales tax returns and corporate income tax returns are filed, and payments are made in a timely manner for both U.S. and Canadian entitiesReview and assign product tax codes for various types of products and services to ensure sales tax is correctly charged to customersManage customer exemption certificates and collaborate with the billing team to resolve any sales tax issues on customer invoicesCoordinate with external tax consultants to provide quarterly and annual tax data for the preparation of corporate income tax estimates and returnsPrepare monthly Revenue by State reports and proactively work with the billing team to correct any issues where revenue is reported to the wrong statePrepare monthly Fixed Assets by State reports to support annual tax filingsPrepare year-end Form 1099-MISC tax filings for applicable suppliersRecord cash postings and prepare journal entries for all tax-related activitiesRepresent the company in audits conducted by federal, state/provincial, and local tax authoritiesInterpret and apply domestic and international tax concepts and regulationsAnalyze financial data and assess the tax impact of business opportunities on the companyPerform other tax-related duties as assignedSkillsBachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business, CTP or CPA preferredMinimum five (5) years of experience, focused on tax accounting and at least one tax preparation suite in the technology and software industryDetailed knowledge of the U.S. tax legislation and accounting principlesKnowledge of non-U.S. direct and indirect tax statutes may be requiredStrong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel), ERPs (SAP), and tax compliance systemsStrong verbal and written skills with the ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals or governmental regulationsAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, and auditorsAbility to think critically and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variablesMust be able to pay attention to details, notice small mistakes, and are able to deliver high quality, accurate workAbility to work with other team members with a positive attitude and respect others' opinionsBenefitsMedical, Dental, and Vision Insurance - available to you from your first day of employmentPaid Parental Leave401(k) - dollar for dollar matching up to 4% with immediate vesting and contribution eligibility beginning day one from the start of employmentUp to a $275 monthly reimbursement for phone and internetEmployee Assistance ProgramLifeMart - discounts on travel, food, products, and servicesRegus 6 mobile office space available for Serralians for team meetings, department gatherings, and project collaborationsCompany OverviewSerrala is an international provider of solutions for inbound and outbound payments and related finance processes.
