Remote Sr. Software Engineer (Java, Springboot, GraphQL, REST API)
Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a high-impact engineering team within the Client Domain of the Integration Center of Excellence organization. This position requires a strong hands-on engineer who can quickly operate at a senior level, take ownership of complex systems, and contribute meaningfully from day one.
This role offers the opportunity to work with modern technologies, contribute to mission-critical services, and play an early role in emerging AI-driven initiatives across the team.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot
Build and support APIs, with a strong emphasis on GraphQL, as the organization continues to wrap and modernize existing APIs
Develop and support distributed systems using Kafka / Confluent Cloud
Ensure services are observable and production-ready using tools such as Datadog
Implement and maintain secure systems with strong understanding of authentication and authorization
Contribute to API management and security using Azure API Gateway
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support:
Digital identity and user registration
System synchronization and document services (insurance, brokerage, investment products, etc.)
Client-related workflows and special handling use cases
Data hydration and integrations supporting banking and financial platforms
Participate in technical discussions, architectural decisions, and code reviews
Support high-priority initiatives as needed and assist teammates when required
Explore and propose innovative solutions leveraging AI and emerging technologies

Skills and Requirements
8+ years of professional software engineering experience
Strong expertise in:
Java
Springboot
GraphQL
Experience building and supporting distributed systems using Kafka
Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog)
Strong understanding of:
Application security
Authentication and authorization patterns
Scalable and resilient system design
Experience working in cloud environments (Azure preferred)
Ability to operate independently and take ownership of complex systems
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Exposure to AI / ML concepts or tools, including:
AI tooling and platforms
MCP servers
AWS Bedrock or similar frameworks
Experience working in early-stage or exploratory technical initiatives
Prior experience in financial services, fintech, or highly regulated environments
