[Remote] Sr. Software Engineer - Java

They are looking for a highly skilled Java Developer to design and develop both new and existing product capabilities, working across diverse technologies and architectures.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain Java-based backend services across both secure federal enclave and AWS production environmentsContribute to architecture design, code quality, performance optimization, and scalable system patternsCollaborate closely within an Agile Scrum team and provide mentorship, knowledge sharing, and technical leadershipParticipate in production troubleshooting, analysis, and improvements across diverse runtime environmentsWork with DevOps, QA, and Product teams to ensure smooth delivery, operational readiness, and high system reliabilitySkillsAt least 3 years of professional Java development experience (exceptional candidates with slightly less may be considered)Strong object-oriented programming skills and deep understanding of Java internalsSolid experience in software engineering principles, including system design, architecture, and best coding practicesHands-on experience with multi-threaded programmingAbility to adapt development workflows to both federal enclave and cloud-based (AWS) environmentsExperience working with or supporting secured / restricted-access environments is a plusExperience supporting a FedRAMP certified product in productionDevOps-oriented mindset, with exposure to CI/CD pipelines, containerized environments, and operational toolingExperience working with or integrating AI/ML tools or frameworksBackground in microservices architecture, including asynchronous (Kafka, messaging queues) and synchronous (RESTful APIs) communication modelsStrong test-oriented mindset (unit tests, component tests, automation)Experience with Spring / Spring BootHands-on with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration platformsExperience with Kafka event-driven systemsFamiliarity with profiling tools, code coverage tools, and CI/CD systemsBenefitsAny applicable bonus programs will be discussed during the recruiting process.Company OverviewSmarsh manage the risk and see the value in their communications data.
