The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining automation scripts, optimizing CI/CD workflows, and collaborating with platform engineers to enhance operational processes.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain robust, scalable Bash, Python, and PowerShell scripts for infrastructure provisioning and operational automationArchitect and optimize CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and compliance with engineering standardsDevelop and enforce best practices for scripting, logging, error handling, and idempotent operationsStandardize code quality through testing frameworks, validation checks, and reusable modulesPartner with platform engineers, DevOps teams, and developers to translate infrastructure needs into automation solutionsAct as a subject matter expert for scripting, CI/CD, and automation tooling within the organizationCollaborate across teams to improve developer experience, platform workflows, and operational processesProvide technical input on architecture decisions related to automation and toolingAnalyze infrastructure workflows and identify automation opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce manual effortDevelop and maintain configuration frameworks using Terraform, Kustomize, and YAML-based systemsEvaluate and optimize platform pipelines (Terraform validation, KCC manifests, container builds) for performance and reliabilityContinuously assess system health, costs, and resource utilization through custom toolingBuild and maintain scripts for GKE operations including cluster upgrades, node pool scaling, and diagnosticsAutomate GCP services such as Secret Manager lifecycle operations (creation, rotation, access policies)Develop tooling for JFrog Artifactory including artifact lifecycle management and repository automationCreate monitoring and diagnostic scripts for incident response, log analysis, and system debuggingMaintain and enhance runner image build pipelines for Linux, Windows, Android, and iOS environmentsMentor junior engineers on scripting best practices, automation design patterns, and CI/CD implementationProvide guidance on debugging, testing, and maintaining automation frameworksContribute to knowledge sharing through documentation, code reviews, and internal workshopsStay up to date with emerging technologies in automation, DevOps, and cloud platformsEvaluate new tools, frameworks, and practices to enhance platform efficiency and scalabilityIntroduce innovative automation approaches to reduce operational overhead and improve reliabilityContribute to long-term platform automation strategy and roadmapIdentify gaps in tooling and processes and propose scalable solutionsSupport capacity planning, cost optimization, and platform modernization initiativesInfluence standards and governance for platform automation across teamsSkillsStrong experience in platform engineering, infrastructure automation, or DevOps scriptingAdvanced Bash scripting (modular design, error handling, logging, idempotency)Strong Python scripting for API integrations, tooling, and automation frameworksExperience with PowerShell for Windows-based automationProven experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred)Hands-on experience with GCP CLI tools (gcloud, kubectl, gsutil)Working knowledge of Terraform (HCL, plan/apply cycles, debugging)Strong proficiency with YAML (Kubernetes manifests, Kustomize, CI/CD workflows)Solid Linux systems administration experience (networking, processes, system services)Experience with Git workflows, branching strategies, and code review processesBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent practical experience may be consideredStrong experience with GKE and Kubernetes ecosystemExperience with JFrog Artifactory, Nexus, or similar artifact management toolsHands-on experience building and managing Docker/container workflowsFamiliarity with policy-as-code tools such as OPA/RegoExperience managing Windows Server environments for CI/CD runnersExposure to cost optimization, observability, and platform monitoring toolsBenefitsFull medical benefitsDental benefitsVision benefits401KLife Insurance ($20,000 benefit)Company OverviewHays is more than just recruitment & selection for both large multinationals and local entrepreneurs.
