[Remote] Sr. Mechanical Engineer – Design

Vertiv is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Design to lead the mechanical architecture and system integration of next-generation rack- and row-based infrastructure solutions supporting high-density compute and AI-driven data center applications. In this role, you will own the mechanical design and integration strategy across complex systems, ensuring scalable, manufacturable, and high-performance designs from concept through production.ResponsibilitiesOwn the mechanical architecture for rack- and row-based systems, including containment and wall-mount solutionsDefine and manage interfaces between mechanical, electrical, and thermal subsystemsEnsure system-level integration meets requirements for performance, safety, and complianceDevelop 3D CAD models and detailed mechanical designs (Creo preferred)Perform and coordinate FEA analysis, stress, and physical validation testingEnsure designs meet form, fit, function, and manufacturability requirementsDrive compliance with applicable industry standards and regional codesLead and contribute to cross-functional design reviewsCollaborate with product management, electrical/thermal engineering, and manufacturing teamsProvide engineering guidance during factory integration and productionMentor and support development of junior engineersContribute to and refine Vertiv’s design standards and 'playbook'Identify and implement improvements in system interoperability, serviceability, and scalabilityStay current on emerging technologies in data center infrastructure and mechanical designSupport pre-sales activities, including solution development and technical presentationsPartner with procurement and suppliers on component selection and sourcingManage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environmentSkillsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent7+ years of experience in mechanical design for complex systems or new product developmentStrong proficiency in 3D CAD (Creo preferred or similar tools)Experience working with integrated mechanical systems (structures, enclosures, assemblies)Solid understanding of design for manufacturability, reliability, and performanceStrong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skillsExperience in IT infrastructure, power systems, or thermal systemsFamiliarity with FEA tools and validation testing methodologiesWorking knowledge of relevant standards (e.g., ASME, ASHRAE, IEC, ISO)Experience supporting system integration, factory builds, or customer deploymentsCompany OverviewVertiv designs, builds and services critical infrastructure that enables vital applications for data centers and industrial facilities.
