As a Senior Engineering Manager for Search, you will lead a team to design and build cloud-native Search services, driving innovation and collaboration across teams to enhance the Search capabilities that support AI applications.ResponsibilitiesLead a team of talented software engineers to design, build, and operate the next-generation cloud-native Search servicesDrive innovation across Vector Search, Keyword Search, and Hybrid Search capabilities to improve relevance, latency, and cost efficiencyBuild a strong partnership with product and research teams to define the roadmap for Search Quality, including ranking models and evaluation frameworksManage and operate large-scale, highly-available services in the cloudGrow and mentor engineers and emerging leaders through coaching, feedback, and development opportunitiesShape and execute the long-term product and engineering strategy for SearchPartner cross-functionally with teams across Databricks to ensure the Search platform serves as a core enabler for AI and data applicationsFoster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and empathySkills+ 5+ years of experience in search, database systems, or AI/ML infrastructureProven track record of building and scaling highly-available cloud servicesStrong leadership experience — building, growing, and managing high-performing engineering teamsExperience defining and meeting SLOs for distributed, production-grade systemsSolid understanding of search and indexing systems (e.g., Elasticsearch, Lucene, or vector databases)Familiarity with database internals or large-scale data processing systemsBS in Computer Science (Masters or PhD Preferred)Masters or PhD in Computer ScienceBenefitsEligibility for annual performance bonusEquityComprehensive benefits and perks that meet the needs of all of our employeesCompany OverviewDatabricks is a data and AI platform that unifies data engineering, analytics, and machine learning on a lakehouse architecture.
