They are seeking a Senior Legacy Modernization Technical Architect / Solution Assurance Consultant to support a legacy modernization initiative involving mainframe applications and PowerBuilder-based systems, providing technical analysis and architectural assessments.ResponsibilitiesEvaluate proposed modernization and migration architectures for technical feasibility, scalability, maintainability, and business alignmentAssess vendor claims and technical assumptions regarding application compatibility, data access, and platform migration strategiesAnalyze PowerBuilder application dependencies, data access methods, and interactions with mainframe-hosted data and servicesReview COBOL and mainframe architectures to determine impacts associated with data migration, platform modernization, or application refactoringValidate whether existing PowerBuilder applications can effectively operate against non-mainframe data stores and identify remediation requirements where necessaryConduct independent technical assessments of vendor-provided code solutions, design artifacts, and implementation approachesReview technical deliverables, statements of work, architecture documents, and project work products for completeness and compliance with contractual requirementsIdentify technical risks, gaps, assumptions, and potential implementation challengesDevelop findings, recommendations, and executive-level technical assessments to support project governance and stakeholder decision-makingParticipate in architecture reviews, technical workshops, and vendor discussions as a subject matter expertSkills10+ years of experience in enterprise application architecture, systems integration, or modernization initiativesStrong experience with PowerBuilder application architecture, development, and database connectivityDeep understanding of IBM mainframe environments, including COBOL-based applications and associated data platformsExperience evaluating legacy modernization, replatforming, or migration solutionsAbility to analyze application-to-data-layer dependencies and assess impacts of database migration strategiesExperience reviewing source code, technical designs, and vendor implementation approachesStrong technical writing and documentation review skillsAbility to communicate complex technical findings to both technical and executive audiencesExperience with mainframe-to-distributed platform migrationsFamiliarity with database modernization and data migration strategiesExperience supporting government or regulated-industry technology programsKnowledge of software architecture governance, quality assurance, and compliance review processesExperience serving as an independent verification and validation (IV&V), technical assurance, or solution oversight resourceBenefitsMedical, dental, and vision coverageA 401(k) with company matchShort-term disabilityLife insurance with AD&DCompany OverviewSoftware Resources is a staffing and recruiting company specializing in IT and human resource services.
