[Remote] Sr. Director of Business Development - Softlines

The Sr. Director of Business Development will lead strategic growth initiatives, manage core business development activities, and work with senior leadership to influence go-to-market strategies while mentoring junior team members.ResponsibilitiesMeet/exceed quarterly and annual targets within assigned territoryPrepare individual sales plans with goals and objectives; identify, research, plan, and contact new prospectsCoordinate transfer of landed account ownership to assigned Account ManagerProvide accurate forecasts and pipelines regularlyReport on market developments, analyze trends, and competitor activitiesWork with sales support groups (Marketing, Sales Development, Sales Operations) to support lead generationEnsure client quotes, proposals, and RFP responses are completed accurately and on timePrepare and submit timely reports of sales activities using CRM systemsRepresent the company at high-profile industry events to strengthen brand positioningWork with leadership & marketing team in organizing and executing industry events & vendor summitsMentor and coach junior business development staff, fostering talent developmentDevelop and execute long-term business development strategies aligned with corporate goalsCollaborate with senior leadership to shape go-to-market strategiesOversee complex proposals and strategic client engagements, ensuring scope, schedules, and budgets are accurately plannedProvide advanced market intelligence, including competitor threat analysis and trend forecastingLead special projects or cross-functional initiatives to support organizational growthParticipate in special projects as assignedAll other duties as assignedSkillsPost-secondary degree in a relevant field10+ years of experience in a multinational organizationInternational business exposure in imported consumer products in a sales, program management, or key account management functionProvides guidance and/or leadership to others, including indirect reports, peers, or managersPersuasive, diplomatic, but always to the point, and has a strong ability to sell a conceptHands-on, open-minded, proactive team playerStrong written and spoken English skills; other languages will be an advantageMust be able to read, understand, and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate, and timely mannerProficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environmentDemonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammar and compositionAbility to work well with others & independentlyProven time management skills and a strong attention to detailWorks well under pressureExtended hours and shift work may be required from time to timeBenefitsMedical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, employee assistance programs.401(k) with company match (immediate vesting upon enrollment).Online training courses, virtual and classroom development experiences, tuition reimbursement programPaid-time off and family leaveCompany OverviewSGS is a business consulting company that specializes in inspection, verification, testing, and certification.
