The Sr Dir, Business Development- Large Capital Projects is responsible for developing and executing sales strategies that drive project influence and revenue growth across large capital projects, while collaborating with various teams to maximize project value and align strategies for success.ResponsibilitiesLead a national large capital projects strategy focused on total addressable market (TAM), driving identification, pursuit, and successful delivery of large, complex projects from early stage through completionBuild and maintain executive-level relationships with General Contractors, Developers, Architects, Engineers, and Owners to secure early project visibility and influenceEstablish early engagement in the design phase through market intelligence, customer relationships, and proactive opportunity identificationDrive disciplined project pursuit strategies by aligning sales, estimating, supply chain, logistics, and execution teamsInfluence specifications, sourcing strategies, and solution design ahead of formal bid cycles to position for successLead cross-functional collaboration across sales, operations, supply chain, and product teams to execute growth initiatives and deliver business objectivesOversee strategic supplier partnerships and diversity programs to expand capacity, capability, and opportunityDefine and track key performance metrics, manage project pipeline and funnel performance, and deliver data-driven insights and updates to executive leadershipDirect overall business strategy and execution for growth initiatives, including sales, margin, and profitability targetsIdentify and pursue new growth opportunities, including ownership of resource planning, operating and capital investment decisions, and, where applicable, P&L performanceCommunicate strategic priorities across the organization and drive alignment to balance enterprise needs with growth initiativesProvide regular executive-level updates on performance, including key results, risks, and corrective actionsSkillsSenior-level leadership experience in strategic sales or enterprise business developmentProven success leading national or enterprise initiatives tied to large capital projectsDeep understanding of construction, infrastructure, or industrial project lifecyclesStrong executive presence and ability to influence early-stage decisionsDemonstrated ability to lead through cross-functional complexityRequires BS/BA in a related disciplineRequires significant, diverse business experience, leading projects and teams in direct-reporting and matrix situationsExperience reporting to and communicating with executive managementCompany OverviewCore & Main is a specialized distributor that provides water, storm drainage, and fire protection products and solutions.
