They are seeking a Senior Structural Designer who will be responsible for developing accurate, fabrication-ready structural and mechanical design packages for heavy industrial equipment, specifically focusing on hot exhaust and flue gas ducting systems.ResponsibilitiesDevelop complete project design packages, including 3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, and material takeāoffs for heavy industrial equipment and ducting systemsDesign largeāscale hot exhaust and flue gas ducting, including casings, transitions, and structural plate components for pollution control applicationsIndependently evaluate project inputs for completeness and accuracy; identify missing, conflicting, or unclear information and drive resolution with Project Engineering, Sales, Supply Chain, and Project ManagementApply sound structural and mechanical design principles to account for thermal expansion, operating temperature, mechanical loading, and cyclic service in ducting layouts and detailsDevelop fabricationāready details that consider material selection, plate thickness, weld joint configuration, and shop versus field fabrication constraintsCoordinate ducting interfaces with pollution control and process equipment such as SCR reactors, stacks, dampers, expansion joints, and related componentsProduce drawings required for customer approval, material procurement, and fabrication, with strong attention to constructability, installation sequencing, and maintenance accessCollaborate closely with Sales, Project Engineering, and Project Management to ensure designs meet contractual requirements, technical standards, and project schedulesPerform and verify geometric and material calculations (lengths, distances, angles, areas, volumes, and weights) to support design accuracy and material takeāoffsReview peer drawings and models to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to internal standards; provide technical feedback and guidance as appropriateProvide technical guidance, informal mentoring, and design support to designers and drafters while maintaining individual ownership of assigned design deliverablesLead complex design packages from concept designs to fabrication by coordinating technical inputs, resolving design conflicts, and ensuring alignment with production needs, standards, and schedulesSupport document control, revision management, and issuance of project drawings to customers and fabricatorsContribute to continuous improvement of drafting standards, modeling practices, and design workflowsSkillsAssociate's degree in ComputerāAided Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related disciplineTen (10) or more years of progressive experience in industrial structural or mechanical design, preferably in heavy industrial or process equipment environmentsDemonstrated experience designing industrial casing plate ductwork and structural membersExperience designing largeāscale industrial ducting systems, preferably operating at elevated temperaturesStrong proficiency in 3D modeling and development of fabricationāready drawingsDemonstrated ability to independently manage complex design assignments, review technical deliverables, and recommend practical design solutions with limited supervisionSolid understanding of geometry, spatial reasoning, and material quantity calculationsExperience with AutodeskĀ® Inventor or similar 3D mechanical design softwareExposure to hot exhaust or flue gas ducting systems operating at elevated temperaturesFamiliarity with pollution control equipment such as SCRs, baghouses, or ESPsBasic understanding of thermal expansion concepts in large ducting or plate structuresKnowledge of common industrial welding practices and fabrication constraintsAbility to interpret P&IDs and coordinate ducting layouts with process requirementsCompany OverviewCECO Environmental is a leading environmentally focused, diversified industrial company whose solutions protect people, the environment, and industrial equipment across the globe, serving a broad landscape of industrial air, industrial water and energy transition markets.
