They are seeking a Senior Database Administrator with experience in Microsoft SQL Server and AWS RDS Aurora/MySQL to lead the design, administration, and optimization of SQL Server environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance with HIPAA/HITECH requirements.ResponsibilitiesAdministration and optimization of Microsoft SQL Server databases hosted on AWS EC2 and Amazon Aurora (MySQL-compatible)/RDS MySQLArchitect and manage highly available SQL Server environments using Always-On Availability Groups, failover clustering, and disaster recovery strategiesDesign, deploy, and operate high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions for Aurora MySQL , including Multi-AZ, read replicas, backups, and point-in-time recoverySupport and optimize SSRS report execution, subscriptions, caching, snapshots, and schedulingIn partnership with the engineering organization, review and optimize developer-written SQL code (T-SQL and MySQL) to ensure performance, scalability, and adherence to database standardsDesign and maintain backup, restore, and disaster recovery solutions across SQL Server and Aurora/RDS platformsEnsure database environments meet HIPAA/HITECH compliance requirementsImplement database security best practices, including encryption, auditing, IAM integration, and least-privilege accessMonitor and tune database performance, including query optimization and capacity planning for SQL Server and Aurora MySQLUse monitoring and observability tools such as Amazon CloudWatch, SolarWinds, and DPA to track database and infrastructure health, investigate performance issues, and support proactive incident responseTroubleshoot complex production issues across SQL Server, Aurora MySQL, Windows, Linux, and AWS storage/networkingProvide operational support for core AWS infrastructure components supporting database platforms, including EC2, EBS, VPC networking, security groups, load balancing, and CloudWatch monitoringSupport AWS platform reliability through performance monitoring, storage optimization, backup validation, patch coordination, and troubleshooting of infrastructure-related database issuesAutomation or Infrastructure as Code experience (PowerShell, Python, Terraform)Partner with security and compliance teams to support audits and risk assessmentsAutomate database operations using T-SQL, MySQL, PowerShell, and scripting toolsMentor junior DBAs, maintain documentation, and runbooksParticipate in on-call rotations and lead incident response effortsSkills7+ years of experience administering Microsoft SQL ServerStrong expertise with SQL Server 2016–2022 or laterStrong expertise with MySQL 8.0-8.4 or laterHands-on experience administering Amazon Aurora (MySQL-compatible) and/or RDS MySQL in production environmentsDeep knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery architectures for both SQL Server and cloud-managed databasesStrong understanding of AWS services related to databases (EC2, RDS, Aurora, IAM, KMS, CloudWatch, Backup)Experience supporting HIPAA/HITECH-regulated systemsAdvanced T-SQL, MySQL SQL, and Windows Server administration skillsExperience working in an on-call model for nights and weekendsExperience designing multi-AZ and cross-region DR architecturesExperience with database migrations from SQL Server or MySQL to Amazon AuroraRelevant AWS, Microsoft, or security certificationsFamiliarity with AWS services including EC2, EBS, and S3Exposure to DevOps or SRE practices related to database operationsCompany OverviewThe only technology partner solely focused on eyecare, Sightview offers ophthalmologists, optometrists, and opticians a single, end-to-end solution that addresses the needs and challenges of today’s eyecare providers.
