[Remote] Sr. Data Engineer

This role involves building data marts, processing large-volume event data, and leading the development of software algorithms to leverage data for product and application development.ResponsibilitiesBuild and own data marts spanning operational, advertising, and telemetry data β designed for analytics, reporting, AI, and operational use casesIngest and process large-volume event data from client apps, ad tech platforms, stitcher services, ad servers, and telemetry pipelinesClean, harmonize, and integrate data across systems with different schemas, identifiers, grains, and timing β producing conformed dimensions and shared definitions (users, sessions, devices, content, campaigns, impressions)Stitch identity and sessions across client, server, and ad-side events to enable accurate user, content, and revenue analyticsTroubleshoot data incidents end-to-end β from a dashboard anomaly back through marts, transformations, and raw event logs β and drive permanent fixesBuild, support and improve visualizations in partnership with analysts and stakeholders, ensuring dashboards are accurate, performant, and trustedEstablish data quality standards β testing, monitoring, alerting, freshness and volume SLAs β so issues are caught before stakeholders see themDocument datasets, lineage, and business logic so consumers across analytics, product, and ad ops can self-serve with confidencePartner closely with analysts, data scientists, ad ops, product, and source-system owners to translate business questions into durable data modelsDevelop/Improve new or underutilized data sets internally and externallyAnalyze complex and huge datasets to understand patterns and develop actionable insightsDevelop new initiatives to improve business KPIs such as usage, revenue, etcDefine new metrics and KPIs to track new initiativesWork closely with all business functions to enable transparent data-based decision makingContribute to the daily variance identification across multiple platformsDrive complex strategic projects investigations and analysisWork cross functionally on enterprise-wide programs with Engineering, Broadcast Operations, Finance, BI and Data Engineering teams to improve performance and profitabilityResearch and share information on the latest tools and best practicesMentor engineers and analysts on SQL, modeling, event data, and engineering best practicesSkillsBA/BS in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, Economics, Statistics or related technical field5+ years of data engineering experience building production pipelines and data modelsExpert SQL skills, including performance tuning on large, event-scale datasetsStrong experience with a cloud warehouse / lakehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks)Experience working with JSON, Parquet, etc. types of filesProficient in Python for data processing and pipeline developmentExperience with dbt (or equivalent transformation framework)Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow)Hands-on experience with high-volume event data β clickstream, telemetry, ad impressions, or similar β including deduplication, late-arriving data, sessionization, and schema evolutionDeep understanding of dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas, slowly changing dimensions, and data mart designProven track record harmonizing data across multiple source systems with conflicting schemas, identifiers, or grainExperience debugging data quality issues across the full stack β from BI tool to warehouse to raw event logsComfort working directly with BI tools (DOMO, Looker, Mode) β both consuming them and supporting their developmentStrong analytical and logical skillsMS in quantitative discipline or equivalent experienceExperience leading engineering or operations teamsUnderstanding of statistical analysis using R and predictive analytics tools, including ability to define, complete and present analysisBenefitsMedical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.This position is bonus eligible.Generous paid time off.An exciting and fulfilling opportunity to be part of one of Paramountβs most dynamic teams.Opportunities for both on-site and virtual engagement events.Unique opportunities to make meaningful connections and build a vibrant community, both inside and outside the workplace.Company OverviewParamount is a leading media and entertainment company that creates premium content and experiences for audiences worldwide.
