[Remote] Software Platform Engineering Manager - Ubuntu for Next-Gen Silicon

They are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead teams in optimizing Ubuntu for next-generation hardware, ensuring high-quality design and code while fostering collaboration and technical delivery.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Lead and develop a team of engineers, ranging from graduate to senior
ā¢ Oversee commercial engagements and support timely delivery on agreed project milestones
ā¢ Participate as technical lead on complex customer engagements involving complete system architectures
ā¢ Implement disciplined engineering processes
ā¢ Integrate and maintain platform-oriented software stacks
ā¢ Optimize Ubuntu for latest hardware platforms
ā¢ Display technical leadership internally and within our external communities
ā¢ Contribute to code reviews and technical documentation
ā¢ Be an active part of the leadership team, collaborating with other leaders
Skills
ā¢ Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
ā¢ Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or a compelling narrative about your alternative path
ā¢ Fluency in C, C++, and Python
ā¢ Experience with Linux and operational systems software (e.g. kernel or user space)
ā¢ Experience with Debian/Ubuntu or other distro packaging
ā¢ Experience leading software engineering teams
ā¢ Professional written and spoken English
ā¢ Confidence to respectfully speak up, exchange feedback, and share ideas without hesitation
ā¢ Thoughtfulness, and self-motivation
ā¢ Result-oriented, with a personal drive to meet commitments
ā¢ Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long
ā¢ Experience working with open source communities and licenses
ā¢ Computer architecture knowledge of x86, ARM, RISC-V or s390x
ā¢ Understanding of build systems and toolchains, including for cross-compilation
ā¢ Experience working with customers
ā¢ Experience with board bring up and validation
ā¢ Experience with Linux virtualization, networking or graphics stacks
ā¢ Experience with one or more of the following technologies: Docker/OCI containers/K8s
ā¢ Experience with confidential computing, RDMA, Infiniband and high performance computing
ā¢ Performance engineering, benchmarking and profiling
