They are seeking a passionate Software Engineer to join their Experimental Engineering team focused on enhancing and developing their AskCR Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) application. The role involves building intelligent consumer-facing features and integrating AI-powered functionalities across web and mobile platforms.ResponsibilitiesDevelop, optimize, and maintain the AskCR chatbot and associated features, ensuring seamless integration across user devices and platformsCollaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to translate user needs and business requirements into innovative features and experiencesWrite clean, efficient and maintainable frontend code in ReactImplement efficient, scalable APIs and services using Python, FastAPI, and related technologiesIntegrate and leverage OpenAI's LLMs to enhance the chatbot's conversational and generative capabilities, including through prompt engineering and foundation model experimentationContinuously research, test, and incorporate emerging AI technologies to enhance product experience and maintain competitive edgePromote and adhere to best practices in software development, security, and responsible AI usageSkillsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field5+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated expertise in Python and web development frameworks, particularly FastAPIIntegrated and deployed AI solutions using OpenAI's GPT models or similar LLM technologiesStrong understanding of cloud services, containerization, and deployment best practicesExceptional problem-solver with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to cross-functional teamsExperience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks and chatbot architecturesPrior experience developing consumer-facing applications, particularly those incorporating AI-driven user experiencesExperience with React Native and mobile app developmentFamiliar with ethical AI practices, trust & safety, data privacy considerations, and/or compliance standardsBenefitsMedical benefits that start on your first day as a CR employee that include behavioral health coverage, family planning and a generous 401K matchCompany OverviewConsumer Reports is a nonprofit publishing and printing firm that focuses on magazines and periodicals about consumer appliances.
