Motion is seeking a seasoned Software Engineer III to join their Sales Domain IT team, specializing in the development and modernization of enterprise applications built on the IBM Sterling Order Management System (OMS) platform. The role involves designing and maintaining scalable Java-based microservices and APIs, leading modernization initiatives, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based microservices and APIs within the IBM Sterling OMS ecosystemLead modernization initiatives and greenfield SaaS projects using cloud-native architectures and Function-as-a-Service (FaaS) approaches, specifically Google Cloud FunctionsImplement robust event-driven architectures to ensure high availability, redundancy, and scalability of sales order processing systemsCollaborate closely with cross-functional teams including business analysts, QA, and DevOps to deliver high-quality software solutionsEnsure adherence to best practices in software development lifecycle (SDLC), including code reviews, documentation, and automated testingMentor junior developers and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and toolsParticipate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and Kanban workflows to deliver iterative improvementsSkillsMust be able to work in US without sponsorship10+ years of enterprise application development experience, with a strong background in Java development for companies with revenues exceeding $1 billionProven experience working with IBM Sterling Order Management System (OMS) or similar large-scale order management platformsExpert proficiency in Java, including Java 21 features such as streams, functional programming, asynchronous programming with Futures, Virtual Threads, and CompletableFuturesStrong experience with JDBC, ORM frameworks, and document-based databases like MongoDBDeep understanding of Java microservice architecture and event-driven design patternsSkilled in API development (both publisher and consumer) with strong code and system documentation practicesFamiliarity with software development best practices (SDLC, Git version control)Experience deploying applications in cloud environments, preferably Google Cloud PlatformSolid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and Kanban processesBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferredExperience with Quarkus framework preferred; Spring Boot experience is acceptableExperience in large-scale modernization or greenfield SaaS projects is highly desirableExperience with IBM Store Engagement (Next Gen)Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform services such as Google Pub/Sub and KafkaKnowledge of Azure DevOps pipelines and Jira for agile project trackingAdditional experience with cloud-native CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesBenefitsHealthcare coverage401(k)Tuition reimbursementVacationSickHoliday payCompany OverviewMotion is a Automation Machinery Manufacturing.
