The Software Engineer II will develop, test, and maintain software features within an AI-enabled engineering workflow, collaborating with peers and technical leadership to deliver high-quality implementations across modern data-intensive software systems.ResponsibilitiesGathers feature requirements and participates in technical discussions to understand scope and design intentImplements features and modules in one or more programming languages and frameworks, preferably Elixir/Phoenix and/or Python/Flask, following design specifications and internal development standardsLeverages AI tools to accelerate implementation, improve testing coverage, and streamline debugging workflowsDevelops and refactors code for performance, clarity, and testability across assigned feature areasProduces supporting documentation and design artifacts for owned featuresContributes to database schema design (PostgreSQL) and API development for core Hyperlift Stars PlatformOwns features end-to-end from implementation through testing, deployment, and post-release supportWrites thorough unit, integration, and system-level tests to validate feature behavior and edge casesDebugs effectively using modern observability tools and AI-assisted troubleshooting techniquesPrepares features for production release, including supporting deployment plans and rollback strategiesParticipates in peer code reviews, contributing to team-wide engineering quality and knowledge sharingCollaborates closely with peers to ensure alignment on technical approach and delivery timelinesTroubleshoots and resolves issues surfaced through observability systems, user reports, or automated monitoringContributes to installation, deployment, and developer documentationDiagnoses and resolves issues in backend services and microservices architecturesParticipates in the full software lifecycle from ideation to long-term maintenance and supportWorks within an Agile development process focused on iterative value delivery to internal and external usersSkillsBachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)Professional experience in backend software developmentDemonstrated ability to deliver features with quality and reliability under guidance from senior engineersEnthusiasm for learning, self-improvement, and staying current with emerging tools and technologiesA drive toward delivery of quality products and a commitmentProficiency in one or more programming languages and frameworks, preferably Elixir/Phoenix and/or Python/FlaskWorking knowledge of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQLExperience with or enthusiasm for AI-assisted development tools and workflowsExperience building and consuming REST APIsFamiliarity with data modeling concepts and backend systems designFamiliarity with cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS) and containerized applicationsAbility to debug and troubleshoot backend performance issues using modern observability toolsExposure to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code concepts (e.g., Terraform, Kubernetes)Ability to work collaboratively in high-performing engineering teamsStrong written and verbal communication skillsBenefitsIn addition to base salary and a competitive benefits packageSuccessful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus or commission tied to achieved resultsCompany OverviewPress Ganey is the leading partner to healthcare providers and health plans improving the experiences of their patients, consumers, and workforce by marrying data with unparalleled technology, analytics, and expertise.
