They are seeking a Streaming Media Architect to lead the technical direction of their innovative streaming platform, ensuring architectural integrity and driving best practices across development teams.ResponsibilitiesDefine and evolve the architectural roadmap for our VOIP and video streaming platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performanceDesign and implement highly available and fault-tolerant systems for audio/video ingest, processing, transcoding, and deliveryLead test-driven development to ensure reliable video qualityEvaluate and recommend new technologies, frameworks, and tools to enhance our streaming capabilitiesProvide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, guiding them on best practices for software design, development, and deploymentCollaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements and translate them into technical specificationsTroubleshoot complex technical issues and provide solutions for optimization and improvementStay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in video streaming, codecs, Voice over IP (VOIP) and telephonyChampion security best practices within the streaming architectureSkillsBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5+ years in a lead development role focused on audio/video streaming3+ years of experience in VOIP/telephony applications with Asterisk and/or Cisco Unified CommunicationsDeep expertise in video streaming protocols and technologies: RTP, SRTP, RTCPStrong understanding of video codecs: H.264, H.265 (HEVC)Strong understanding of audio codecs: G722, G729Strong understanding of Voice over IP (VOIP) protocols and applications: Asterisk, SIPStrong programming skills in at least one relevant language (e.g., Python, Java, C++)Experience with live streaming and low-latency videoFamiliarity with video analytics and quality of experience (QoE) monitoringExcellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skillsAbility to lead and influence technical discussions and decisionsSome travel requiredCandidates must be able to obtain/maintain a US Government security clearanceBenefitsMedical, dental, and vision coverageA Safe Harbor 401(k) retirement plan with company matchGenerous paid time offCompany-paid life insuranceCompany-paid short- and long-term disability coverageEmployees may also be eligible for additional voluntary benefits and wellness programsCompany OverviewOwl Cyber Defense offers cyber security, cyber defense, and critical infrastructure security.
