[Remote] Senior UX/UI Designer

The Senior UX/UI Designer is responsible for leading user-centered design for healthcare applications, collaborating with Product and Engineering to shape design strategies and ensure consistency across products.ResponsibilitiesPlan and lead discovery (interviews, workflow observations, surveys) and usability testing; define research goals, scripts, and success criteriaApply systems thinking and empathy-driven design to optimize complex healthcare workflows across roles, channels, and devicesSynthesize qualitative and quantitative insights into experience principles, prioritized opportunities, and measurable design recommendationsCreate concepts, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes (e.g., AI tools, Figma) to explore solutions, de-risk decisions, and accelerate deliveryDefine user journeys, information architecture, and interaction patterns that support clinical and administrative tasks and reduce cognitive loadLead critiques and iterate designs using stakeholder feedback, accessibility reviews, and usability findings; document decisions and tradeoffsOwn and evolve the design system and component library, establishing governance, contribution standards, and adoption plansEnsure consistency and scalability across products through reusable patterns, style guides, content guidelines, and interaction standardsPartner with engineering to align design libraries with coded components and to improve implementation quality through specs and QAInfluence product strategy and prioritization by connecting user needs, business outcomes, and technical constraints to clear experience recommendationsFacilitate workshops (journey mapping, design studios, story mapping) to align teams, clarify requirements, and drive decisionsPresent design rationale and outcomes to diverse audiences; build alignment through storytelling, artifacts, and clear documentationChampion accessibility by designing and validating against WCAG standards (color, keyboard, screen reader, responsive behaviors)Set usability and accessibility quality bars; partner with QA/engineering to ensure implementation meets standards for diverse user populationsIncorporate healthcare compliance and privacy requirements (e.g., HIPAA) into interaction patterns, data display, and workflow designSkillsBachelor's Degree in relevant field7+ years of relevant UX/UI design experience, including ownership of complex B2B and/or SaaS productsExpert proficiency in design/prototyping tools (e.g., Figma) and production of developer-ready specificationsDemonstrated ability to leverage AI powered tools as a multiplier of individual and team productivity and efficiencyDeep knowledge of UX principles, information architecture, accessibility, responsive design, and design system practicesDemonstrated experience working in agile product teams and influencing roadmap decisions through research and dataExcellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, including presenting to senior leadersAbility to translate complex requirements into clear, scalable experiences; comfort navigating ambiguity and making principled tradeoffs~15% travel requiredFamiliarity with healthcare compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA)Strong experience building, governing, and operationalizing design systems and component librariesWorking knowledge of HTML/CSS and modern front-end practices to partner effectively with engineeringExperience mentoring designers and elevating team design craft through critique, coaching, and best practicesCertification in UX design or related fieldExperience with data visualization and dashboard designBenefitsThis position is also eligible for bonus as part of the total compensation package.Company OverviewProvation Medical develops software solutions related to procedure documentation for professionals primarily in the healthcare sector.
