[Remote] Senior Technical Project Manager

The Senior Technical Project Manager will lead complex technology initiatives in healthcare digital transformation, managing projects from requirements gathering to implementation while coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery.ResponsibilitiesManage end-to-end technology and digital transformation projects from requirements gathering through implementation, testing, deployment, and post-launch supportLead healthcare payer initiatives involving claims systems, customer service platforms, system integrations, and enterprise application enhancementsCoordinate cross-functional teams across Product, Operations, Compliance, Infrastructure, and Engineering to ensure successful project executionServe as a primary point of contact for clients by providing project updates, executive presentations, risk mitigation plans, and delivery oversightTranslate complex technical concepts into clear, business-friendly explanations for both technical and non-technical stakeholdersCoordinate teams during system outages, production incidents, and performance issues to ensure timely resolution and communicationLead system modernization and technical upgrade initiatives while minimizing disruption to business operations and end usersFacilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and backlog refinementTrack project timelines, dependencies, risks, and action items while ensuring accountability across teamsDevelop and maintain project documentation, workflows, status reports, and process improvement recommendationsPartner with QA and technical teams to support testing, validation, and system performance optimization effortsLead distributed onshore and offshore teams across multiple locations and time zonesOther duties as assignedSkills7+ years of experience managing complex technology projects, preferably within healthcare payer or healthcare technology environmentsBachelor's degree in a related fieldHealthcare payer experience required, including exposure to claims systems, customer service systems, system integrations, or highly transactional enterprise ecosystemsStrong understanding of project management principles and methodologies; PMP, CSM, or related certifications preferred but not requiredHands-on technical background preferred, including experience with solution development, documentation, QA, system design, coding, or performance optimizationExperience leading onshore and offshore teams with demonstrated success managing virtual delivery modelsStrong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate deep technical concepts into clear business-friendly explanationsExceptional organizational skills with strong task management, dependency tracking, and prioritization capabilitiesDemonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in fast-paced client environmentsCalm, confident demeanor with the ability to maintain urgency while providing leadership and stability during complex initiativesStrong documentation and presentation skills tailored to both technical and non-technical audiencesExperience with Agile delivery methodologies and project management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, TeamGantt, or MS ProjectWillingness to engage in direct client interaction, including travel to client locations as neededFlexibility to support project or client needs outside of standard business hours when requiredMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorshipExperience supporting or leading Salesforce-related projects, preferably within healthcare payer or healthcare technology environmentsBased in Chicago, IL, and flexible to work from our Chicago office as neededBenefitsFlexible PTO, monthly half-day refuels, volunteer time off, 10 paid holidaysOwn Your Day flexible work policyCompetitive majority employer-paid benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K MatchGenerous paid parental leave optionsEmployer-paid Life Insurance, Short Term Disability, Long Term DisabilityCharitable contribution matching programNew client commission opportunities and referral bonus programBike share discount programAnnual discretionary bonusCompany OverviewAArete is a management consulting company specializing in operational performance improvement and strategic cost reduction services.
