[Remote] Senior Software Engineer, Network Tools with Python

The Senior Software Engineer, Network Tools will design, build, and maintain tools for network automation and optimization, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance performance and security.ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain innovative tools and solutions to meet evolving business needs. This could be something as simple as developing a Mustache email template library for streamlined responses, or as complex as ML tools for automated troubleshootingLeverage open source automation tools and scripting languages in commercial tools (e.g., Python, Ansible, ServiceNow, Salesforce, etc) to streamline NOC information gathering, internal communication, and communication with customersContribute to solving complex technical and process problems, such as mass customer communication, automating responses to trouble tickets, and injecting enrichment information into trouble ticketsRefactor existing tools to be a cohesive suite of tools that reduce friction with our primary internal users (the NOC)Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Security) to ensure security and optimal application performanceGuide a team of software developers through the project lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software solutionsMonitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and identify opportunities for optimizationStay up-to-date on emerging network technologies and best practices, becoming the beacon for best practices and efficient processes through the organizationSkillsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Networking, or a related field (or equivalent experience.)Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in software development with a variety of languages such as Python, Javascript, SQL, and GraphQLExperience working with various databases such as Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, and OracleUnderstanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.) and routing/switching technologiesExperience with network automation tools and scripting languages (Python, Ansible, Terraform)Experience with async processing and message bus communicationsExperience in a test driven development environmentStrong abilities on the Linux command line, working with various flavors of Linux, and working with dockerStrong understanding of applied statistics and the ability to code systems that identify outlier behavior in large systemsPrevious experience delivering a production software product and maintaining a high degree of users awarenessExcellent communication, collaboration skills, and experience using a variety of remote collaboration tools including Jira, Confluence, Google Suite, Zoom, etcA passion for tackling complex problems and combining technical solutions with process solutionsExperience working with various vendor APIs (or netconf) including Nokia, Juniper, Fujitsu, Infinera, Cisco, and CienaExperience with various network orchestration platform such as Ciena Blue Planet, Cisco NSO, or othersExperience with monitoring platforms such as SevOne, Assure1, and NagiosExperience with PerlCertifications such as CCNA, JNCIP, or other networking certificationsBenefitsExcellent Health, Dental & Vision InsuranceRetirement 401(k) Savings PlanGenerous paid time off policy including paid parental leaveCompany OverviewFor more than 18 years, Zayo Group of companies has helped the world’s most ambitious organizations build the infrastructure behind what’s next.
