In this role, you will design and build scalable data pipelines that integrate various data sources, ensuring quality and performance while supporting the company's data ecosystem.ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain high-performance data acquisition pipelines that integrate with a variety of systems across WEX and third-party vendorsContribute to the development of a modular ingestion platform that enables reusability, reliability, and observability at scaleImplement core pipeline components such as schema validation, transformation orchestration, error handling, and audit loggingSupport batch and streaming ingestion flows, ensuring the platform meets varying latency and volume requirements across business unitsEnsure traceability, lineage, and security through integration with control plane and governance systemsParticipate in code reviews, design sessions, and incident resolutionâpromoting high standards for code quality and operational reliabilitySkillsB.Sc. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field; M.Sc. a plus but not required4+ years of experience as a software engineer, ideally in high-volume or distributed systems environmentsStrong programming skills in Python, Java, Scala, or another systems-focused languageExperience with data integration and ingestion pipelinesâunderstanding what it means to bring data in from source systems, transform it, and deliver it reliably downstreamSolid grasp of engineering fundamentals, including version control, modular design, testing, and performance tuningProficiency in using AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Dev) to accelerate the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including automated unit test generation, refactoring, and documentationDeep understanding of specification-driven development.
