[Remote] Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Java/Spring)

They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own feature delivery across Compliance, Recruiting, and Camps, design and build internal APIs, and provide mentorship to junior engineers while driving code quality.ResponsibilitiesOwn feature delivery across Compliance, Recruiting, and Camps, breaking complex work into small, shippable increments and seeing them through from design to productionDesign and build internal APIs and data access layers for performant, reliable cross-product data consumption, including the API versioning and service layer work needed to decompose the monolith into a Citadel-style architectureDiagnose and resolve critical performance issues in the data import pipeline through measurement, testing, and targeted fixesProvide mentorship and technical direction to junior engineers as a natural part of how you work, not as a side responsibilityDrive code quality through MR reviews, testing practices, and AI-assisted development methodsParticipate in on-call rotation and incident responseSkills6+ years of senior-level Java and Spring/Spring Boot experienceProven experience building internal APIs on top of relational databases, with strong query optimization and schema design skillsExperience working across monolithic and service-oriented architectures, with a track record of decomposing monolithic applications into a service-oriented structureExperience building or evolving a data access layer that serves multiple internal consumers across a platformProficiency with agentic coding tools and AI-assisted developmentExperience mentoring junior engineers and developing their problem-solving instinctsBackground in a high-compliance or regulated industry such as financial services or healthcareExperience with a modern JavaScript front-end frameworkCompany OverviewTeamworks is an operating system for sports that supports talent acquisition, seamless operations, and holistic performance development.
