[Remote] Senior Software Engineer - Backend

They are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Software Engineer - Backend to join their remote Engineering team, where the individual will work on scalable applications and services that support their data-intensive SaaS platform.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate on the architecture, design, and development of scalable and highly available applications and servicesSolve complex infrastructure-related problems with code, developing and providing post-release support for scalable applicationsIdentify and implement enhancements to DevOps practices and tooling, leveraging automation to enhance robustness of the CI/CD pipeline, thereby streamlining efficient application development and deploymentDrive technology design and articulate architecture solution options to the product owners and Engineering leadershipConduct post-mortems to analyze and prevent repeat failuresBe a champion for Continuous Improvement in end-to-end infrastructure and systemsEvaluate and recommend tools, technologies and processes that solve concrete business problemsBecome a domain expert who follows industry trends and applies best practices and contributes towards continuous improvement of those practicesSkills5+ years of programming experience in backend languages2+ years experience with PHP (Strongly preferred), Python, GoLang, Java or a similar programming language2+ years experience with MySQL or a similar technologyStrong understanding of database schema design, caching and scalabilityStrong understanding of various communication protocols (TCP, RPC, etc)Strong understanding of Distributed SystemsExperience in Caching technologies is a plus (e.g. Redis or Memcached)Workable understanding of Linux operating systemsExperience with modern CI/CD and containerization tools like DockerAbility to perform time and memory complexity analysisExcellent written and verbal communication skillsApplicants must be authorized to work in the U.SBS or higher degree in Computer Science or related technical fieldDevOps experience preferredExperience with Full-stack observability tools like New Relic is strongly preferredBenefitsVariable compensation (such as bonus or commission)EquityBenefits in accordance with local policiesCompany OverviewCommerce (Nasdaq: CMRC) empowers businesses to innovate, grow, and thrive through an open, AI-driven commerce ecosystem.
