They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Platform Operations team, focusing on building tools and systems that enhance developer productivity and deliver platform enhancements.ResponsibilitiesOwn features end-to-end: from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production supportBuild and maintain internal tools and platforms that improve developer productivity across engineering teamsDevelop backend services, APIs, and data models that support platform capabilities and scale across multiple propertiesBuild frontend interfaces for internal tooling using React and Next.js, ensuring intuitive and efficient user experiencesTake ownership of platform outcomes, working closely with product managers and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutionsWrite clean, well-tested code with comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end test coveragePartner with Platform and Infrastructure teams to leverage shared services and tooling effectivelyCollaborate with SRE teams on reliability, observability, and incident response for systems you ownWork alongside Operations and Platform teams to ensure smooth operational handoffs and support readinessInstrument applications with logging, metrics, and tracing to enable proactive monitoring and fast debuggingParticipate in on-call rotations for services you build, triaging and resolving production issuesManage deployments through CI/CD pipelines, including feature flags and staged rolloutsContribute to technical documentation, runbooks, and architectural decision recordsParticipate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to maintain code qualityContinuously improve development practices, tools, and workflows within the teamSkillsBachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent training/experience5+ years of experience in full-stack development with strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScriptStrong understanding of frontend development including React, state management, and responsive design principlesSolid experience building and maintaining backend services, APIs, and database systemsExperience building internal tools, developer platforms, or productivity toolingExperience working in a continuous integration environment with best practices for testing (unit, integration, e2e)Proven ability to architect scalable, secure, and maintainable applicationsExperience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and infrastructure-as-code toolsStrong skills in version control (Git) and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar)Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environmentExperience developing high-traffic platforms or internal developer tooling at scaleDeep understanding of system design, event-driven architecture, and distributed systemsKnowledge of security best practices including authentication/authorization (OAuth, JWT), encryption, and secure data handlingExperience with message queues (Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ) and asynchronous processing patternsFamiliarity with observability practices: logging, metrics, tracing, and alertingExperience with feature flags, A/B testing, and progressive rollout strategiesExperience mentoring engineers and contributing to a collaborative, learning-focused cultureStrong understanding of AI-assisted development fundamentals, including prompt engineering and effective human-AI collaboration workflowsHands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar assistants to accelerate development and improve code qualityAbility to critically evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, and maintainabilityInterest in exploring and integrating AI/ML capabilities into platform tooling and developer workflowsBenefitsHealth insuranceRetirement plansPaid time offCompany OverviewVersant Media is a media company that offers television and digital entertainment services.
