[Remote] Senior Software Engineer

The Senior Software Engineer will lead engineering efforts to improve employee and customer engagement, overseeing the entire software lifecycle from design to maintenance.ResponsibilitiesArchitect, design, deliver and maintain complex software solutions using various technologies: PHP, MySQL, AWS, KubernetesOwn all phases of the software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenanceImplement DevOps best practices—CI/CD automation, IaC with Terraform, observability, and deployment to AWS (EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3)Apply AI-driven development tools to optimize coding, testing, and documentation workflowsCollaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, Data, and Security teams to align technical direction with company objectivesFoster an engineering culture of learning, innovation, and ownership aligned with Activated Insights’ mission and valuesDrive engineering objectives and KPIs across product delivery, team performance, software quality, and system securityChampion security-first development, enforcing secure coding, encryption, and threat-aware deployment pipelinesEffective communicator in remote work settings, with strong presence in virtual meetings and the ability to collaborate across time zones and functionsLead sprint planning, task estimation, and delivery tracking to meet project milestones and product release schedulesEncourage and collaborative, respectful team environment that values knowledge sharing, innovation, and accountabilitySkills5+ years of full-stack software engineering experience, including hands-on development with the Laravel frameworkProven expertise in PHP, MySQL, and JavaScript with frameworks such as LaravelDeep experience with cloud-architecture, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelinesExperience working with REST/SOAP APIs, SFTP integrations, and scalable cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS)Knowledge of secure authentication and authorization standards such as OpenID Connect (OIDC) and SAMLProven track record delivering cloud-native applications at scale in Agile environmentsAbility to drive performance against team KPIs (delivery velocity, code quality, security, and uptime)Experience with AI-assisted development tools: Copilot, Codex, Cursor, etcExcellent collaboration and communication skills with a history of working effectively across teams and with external stakeholdersSelf-motivated, passionate about software development, and comfortable working independently in a remote-first environmentStrong proficiency in writing, optimizing, and debugging complex SQL queries outside of ORM frameworks (e.g., Eloquent), including deep understanding of joins, aggregate functions, subqueries, indexing strategies, and query performance tuningAWS, Kubernetes, or security certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, CKA, CISSP) are a plusCompany OverviewActivated Insights helps long-term and post-acute care providers strengthen workforce performance, regulatory compliance, and care quality.
