[Remote] Senior Software Engineer

The Senior Software Engineer will design and implement scalable backend systems and APIs, working across services and systems to build the core backend and data services that power Atomic’s platform.ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement scalable backend systems and APIs in Python and other languagesBuild and maintain services for geometry processing, simulation orchestration, and real-time data handlingDesign schemas and pipelines for structured and unstructured data using PostgreSQL, S3, Redis, and RabbitMQOwn and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment infrastructure (GitHub Actions, Hashicorp stack)Collaborate with product and design to define intuitive interfaces for tooling engineers and internal usersProfile and optimize performance-critical workloads, including GPU-accelerated simulation tasksSkills7+ years of experience building and deploying production software at scaleProficiency in at least one systems language (Go, Rust, or C++) and one scripting language (Python preferred)Experience designing and scaling distributed systems, data pipelines, or high-performance compute servicesHands-on experience with distributed computing, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelinesComfortable working in hybrid environments (cloud and on-prem), including bare-metal GPU systemsExcellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly in writing and in conversationExperience with 3D geometry kernels (Parasolid, OpenCascade) or CAD/CAM workflowsFamiliarity with simulation, manufacturing, robotics, or hardware-in-the-loop systemsUnderstanding of ITAR, CMMC, or similar regulatory constraintsExperience building developer-facing tools, SDKs, or internal platformsBenefitsCompetitive salary and generous equity packageFull medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents401(k)PTO with a 15-day minimumQuarterly team travel to DetroitVisa support for TN, E‑3, and O‑1 candidatesHardware stipend and on-site prototype lab accessCompany OverviewAtomic Industries is a computational manufacturing company building an AI-powered tool and die maker.
