[Remote] Senior Security Engineer

They are seeking a hands-on Sr. Security Engineer to enhance their security program, supporting cloud security, application security, and vulnerability management within an AWS environment.ResponsibilitiesImplement, maintain, and improve security controls across AWS environmentsSupport secure configuration of IAM, logging, monitoring, networking, and cloud servicesOperate and improve vulnerability management processes across infrastructure, applications, containers, and dependenciesTriage security findings, assign ownership, track remediation, and drive closure with engineering teamsSupport SAST, SCA, DAST, SBOM, and container security workflows using tools such as Snyk and AWS-native servicesHelp integrate security checks into CI/CD pipelines and development workflowsTrack remediation of penetration testing findings and validate closure of high-priority issuesSupport NIST 800-171 control implementation, evidence collection, and audit readiness activitiesMaintain accurate documentation of security controls, risks, exceptions, and remediation progressSupport enterprise-grade security monitoring and incident response by leveraging centralized logging, alerting, and detection capabilities to identify, investigate, and respond to security events across the environmentAssist with security monitoring, alert triage, investigation, and incident response activitiesPartner with Engineering, Platform, and IT teams to improve security processes without creating unnecessary frictionContribute to repeatable DevSecOps practices across teamsSkills5+ years of experience in security engineering, cloud security, application security, DevSecOps, or related rolesStrong hands-on experience with AWS security concepts and servicesExperience with IAM, logging, monitoring, networking, and cloud security best practicesExperience with vulnerability management workflows and remediation trackingFamiliarity with application security tooling such as SAST, SCA, DAST, SBOM, and container scanningExperience working with CI/CD pipelines and secure software delivery practicesExperience with enterprise security monitoring and incident response, including centralized logging, alerting, and investigation of security eventsAbility to work directly with engineering teams to resolve security findingsStrong documentation, tracking, and follow-through skillsHighly self-motivated, practical, and able to operate in a fast-moving startup environmentStrong team player with demonstrated ability to take ownership and drive executionExperience with NIST 800-171 or similar security/compliance frameworksExperience with Drata or similar GRC platformsExperience with Snyk or similar application security platformsExperience with Jira or similar tools for vulnerability tracking and exception managementExperience with Kubernetes, container security, or cloud-native infrastructureSecurity certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, AWS Security Specialty, GSEC, GCIH, or similar are a plusBenefitsEmployee optionsHealth insurance: Medical, Vision, DentalFlexible time offMaternity, Paternity & Parental Leave401K MatchingCompany OverviewHydrosat leverages thermal satellite intelligence and AI to address critical global challenges in food, security, and natural resources It was founded in 2017, and is headquartered in Washington, District of Columbia, USA, with a workforce of 51-200 employees.
