As a Senior Public Safety Sales Engineer, you will act as a technical expert and storyteller, collaborating with sales teams and customers to deliver tailored technical solutions and ensure successful implementation.ResponsibilitiesPre-Sales SolutioningPartner with AEs and RSMs to qualify opportunities, understand customer challenges, and design tailored technical solutionsConduct in-depth discovery with 911 centers, emergency management agencies, and public safety IT teamsDeliver engaging product demonstrations, technical workshops, and proof-of-concept sessions tailored to the agency’s environmentLead and respond to RFPs, RFIs, and security questionnaires with accuracy and professionalismTranslate complex technical concepts into clear, benefit-focused explanations for non-technical audiencesTechnical LeadershipServe as the subject-matter expert for Prepared’s platform architecture, integrations, APIs, and data workflowsProvide configuration and system design guidance based on customer requirements, existing CAD/NG911 systems, and IT infrastructureAdvise agencies on best practices for network security, system interoperability, and deployment planningStay up-to-date with public safety software trends, standards (NG911, CAD, RMS, PSAP operations), and competitor offeringsSales Enablement & CollaborationWork alongside Sales, Product, and Engineering to continuously improve our demo environments, messaging, and field readinessCollect and relay customer feedback to influence product roadmap and technical documentationSupport proposal teams with technical content, diagrams, and specificationsAssist marketing and partner teams in developing technical collateral, webinars, and eventsCustomer AdvocacyBuild trust with agency decision-makers, IT administrators, and operations leaders by demonstrating deep understanding of public safety workflowsEnsure technical confidence throughout the sales cycle to accelerate buying decisionsRepresent Prepared at tradeshows, conferences, and industry events as a technical ambassadorSkillsSeveral years of experience working directly in, or selling to, Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) or emergency communications environments (e.g., as a PSAP Director or equivalent)3–7 years of experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Technical Consultant within software/SaaS sales and/or a strong understanding of public safety, emergency communications, or government technology (e.g., 911, CAD, NG911, or dispatch systems)Strong ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiencesProven presentation, storytelling, and consultative selling skills, with a track record of coaching and enabling sales teamsExperience supporting government procurement cycles, RFPs, and security/compliance processesCollaborative, adaptable, and mission-driven—able to navigate a high-growth, high-impact environment with agilityWillingness to travel up to 40% for customer meetings, tradeshows, and on-site demosPrevious hands-on PSAP or emergency communications experience (dispatcher, supervisor, or comms center manager)Familiarity with Axon, Prepared, or other leading public safety platformsExperience designing onboarding or sales enablement programsExperience integrating with public safety technologies (CAD, RMS, NG911 systems, cloud-based communications)Knowledge of government procurement processes and funding mechanismsBenefitsCompetitive salary and 401k with employer matchDiscretionary paid time offPaid parental leave for allMedical, dental, and Vision plansFitness ProgramsEmotional & Mental Wellness supportLearning & Development programsAnd yes, we have snacks in our officesBase salary, a generous annual bonus, and company equityCompany OverviewAxon provides electronic control devices to law enforcement and corrections agencies.
