The role involves developing client relationships and supporting engineering staff while managing multi-discipline design and construction projects, ensuring alignment with company strategies and goals.ResponsibilitiesBuilding solid relationships with Energy, Institutional, Industrial, and Manufacturing clients and internal clients within GAI’s Business SectorsLeading business development pursuits, developing statements of qualifications and proposed project scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and feesDeveloping a solid understanding of and marketing the services GAI performsProviding design, management, and technical direction and oversight associated with on multi-discipline design and construction projectsFacilitate client team meetings, including recording and publishing meeting notesAssist teams of engineers in developing the project-specific scope of work documentsAssist with and coordinate teams of engineers reviewing design submittalsApply thorough broad-based knowledge of electric utility projectsDemonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skillsCollaborate with internal and client subject matter experts to continuously improve the documentsKeep informed of new methods and developments affecting the organization and recommend new practices or changes in emphasis of programsAssist in quality control and quality assurance of active projects, providing peer reviews and training of engineers and designers in quality control processesDemonstrate strong organizational skills, and can develop, implement, and maintain processes for document controlMentor engineers and staff providing training assistanceManage assigned projects, including responsibility for delivering scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and profitabilityCoordinate and develop proposed scope, schedule, and fee for projects managedDemonstrate proficiency of fundamental project management skills and use of project management techniques and practices to increase productivity, efficiency, and accuracyWork closely with Project Controls/Accounting staff to monitor and control project cost and billings to meet budget profit, analyze project performance data on an ongoing basis, and develop recovery plans as neededServe as primary client contact for projects managed and actively win new work from both new and existing clients by building and maintaining customer relationships, monitoring future work opportunities, and communicating regularlyEstablish and refine engineering processes and standard operating procedures that enhance team performance, described here, including Primavera P6, and Microsoft Office Suite applications and softwareExperience with Primavera P6 scheduling software requiredMinimum of 18 years of total engineering or technical experienceAt least 10 years serving as a Project Manager leading and directing projects or portfoliosBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering or applicable technical discipline as requiredRequired mathematical skills are commensurate with the technical or engineering discipline practicedDemonstrated mastery of fundamental project management financial conceptsDemonstrate in-depth understanding of software as needed to successfully perform the duties described here, including MS Office Suite applications and software, CAD programs, document management systems, database software, HR Systems, internet software, and reporting tools related to databasesApproximately 40% of job duties are dedicated to project management and 10% to technical deliveryDelivers scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety and profitability of all projects or portfolios managedPlans and manages multidisciplinary projects of high value with high-risk profiles or a portfolio of multiple projectsDirectly manages over $5 million per year of total billings and portfolios of higher valueProjects managed are typically time-sensitive, unique and/or very complex, of significant magnitude, scope, and difficultyDemonstrated expertise in the development of project schedules, cost budgets and understanding and analysis of the financial dataWorks closely with Project Controls staff to monitor and control project cost and billings to meet budget profitHas in-depth understanding of project and/or portfolio goals, drivers, strategies, risks, and opportunitiesUnderstands the company's businesses, competing projects or portfolios, and profit impact of decisionsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to collaborate and communicate with and garner support from key stakeholders and staffAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical reports and procedures, and governmental regulationsAbility to write reports and other business correspondenceAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the publicMust be able to travel to GAI and client office locations as neededAdvanced technical degree or MBA is strongly preferredProject Management Professional (PMP) Certification is preferred or desire to obtainExperience with Deltek for Professional Services as a Project Management / Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Platform, including Client Relationship Management applications is
