The role involves developing product strategy, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and integrating AI capabilities to enhance campground operations.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and own a clear product vision and multi-quarter roadmap for the PMS that aligns with company strategy and the real-world needs of campground operatorsAnticipate where the platform needs to go β€” don’t wait for problems to surface. Bring forward strategic opportunities and risks before they reach stakeholdersSynthesize operator feedback, market signals, and internal data into a coherent point of view on what to build and whyDevelop genuine expertise in how campground businesses operate β€” seasonality, staffing models, revenue levers, compliance considerations, and the day-to-day realities of park managementBuild direct relationships with operators, including power users and skepticsIdentify workflow pain points and efficiency gaps that operators themselves may not be able to articulatePartner closely with engineering, design, sales, customer success, and support to define requirements and deliver well-scoped, high-quality releasesBridge the gap between operator needs and technical constraints β€” translate complexity in both directions without losing fidelityOperate effectively in an environment where product, design, and engineering roles are increasingly overlapping. Be comfortable with ambiguity and shared ownershipOversee the development and health of integrations with payment processors, channel managers, OTAs (from an operator configuration standpoint), and other tools campgrounds use to run their businessThink about the PMS as a platform β€” not just a set of features β€” and make principled decisions about where to build, partner, or enable third-party extensibilityDefine and track KPIs that reflect real operator outcomes: platform adoption, feature utilization, reservation throughput, time-on-task, and retentionUse data honestly β€” present the full picture, including evidence that complicates your hypothesisKnow when quantitative data is sufficient and when qualitative research is the more important signal. Use both rigorouslyBring an AI-native working style to the team β€” actively use AI tools in your own workflow for research, synthesis, spec writing, and iterationIdentify opportunities to bring AI capabilities into the PMS that genuinely reduce operator burden or unlock new revenue β€” without adding complexity for its own sakeBe a voice in the organization on what it means to build modern B2B software in an era when the tools available to small product teams are fundamentally different than they were three years agoLead sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives with clear intent β€” not just ceremonyMaintain a prioritized, well-reasoned backlog that reflects operator needs, technical realities, and strategic prioritiesCommunicate progress, blockers, and decisions to stakeholders clearly and proactivelySkills5+ years of product management experience, with meaningful time in B2B SaaS, property management software, hospitality tech, or a comparable domain where operators or businesses β€” not consumers β€” are the primary userDemonstrated track record of proactive domain ownership β€” you can show examples where you identified and solved problems in your area before being directed toStrong analytical skills and a reputation for intellectual honesty with dataExceptional written communication β€” you can write a clear problem statement, a tight spec, and a sharp strategic recommendationCollaborative approach to cross-functional work, with the ability to influence without authority in engineering, design, and go-to-market contextsExperience with or strong working knowledge of PMS platforms, reservation systems, or operational software used in hospitality or outdoor recreationExposure to integration-heavy products: APIs, webhooks, partner ecosystems, and the tradeoffs involved in building on top of third-party platformsActive use of AI tools in your daily product work β€” not as a novelty, but as a core part of how you operate.
