[Remote] Senior Next.js Engineer (Frontend Platform)

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Sphere is seeking a Senior Next.js Engineer to take ownership of their existing production-grade frontend platform built with Next.js and hosted on Vercel. The main purpose of this role is to stabilize the frontend codebase, introduce architectural consistency, and improve scalability and maintainability while continuing active development.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze existing Next.js (Vercel-hosted) application and identify architectural gapsDefine and implement a clean and scalable frontend architectureBuild and maintain a consistent frontend data layer / API abstraction layerImprove application performance, maintainability, and scalabilityRefactor fragmented or inconsistent code structuresEnsure consistent patterns across pages, components, and modulesContinue delivery of new features alongside stabilization workCollaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical implementationLeverage AI-assisted development tools to improve delivery efficiencySkills5+ years of experience in frontend developmentExperience with Next.js and React in production environmentsExperience working with Vercel deployments and CI/CD workflowsStrong understanding of frontend architecture and system designExperience working with headless CMS (WordPress, Contentful, Strapi, etc.)Experience designing data fetching strategies (SSR / SSG / ISR / client-side hybrid)Experience improving existing large-scale codebasesExperience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot, etc.)Ability to impose structure in fast-moving or loosely organized environmentsStrong communication skills and ability to work with non-technical stakeholdersExperience scaling Next.js applications on VercelPerformance optimization experience (Core Web Vitals, caching strategies)BenefitsFully remoteCompany OverviewDrive your sustainable digital transformation with focus on innovation and scale It was founded in 2004, and is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, USA, with a workforce of 201-500 employees.
