Sikich is a professional services firm seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and support secure network infrastructures for client environments. The role focuses on hands-on delivery and operational support across various network components, ensuring reliable connectivity and security for clients.ResponsibilitiesImplement, configure, and support core network infrastructure including routers, switches, wireless access points, firewalls, VPN appliances, and SD-WAN platformsAssist in building and maintaining LAN, WAN, wireless, and internet edge environments, including VLAN design, routing, switching, DHCP, DNS, and site-to-site or remote access connectivityPerform network deployments, upgrades, cutovers, and hardware refresh activities for branch, campus, and data center environmentsUse network management and troubleshooting tools such as monitoring platforms, configuration backups, logging tools, packet capture utilities, and vendor management portals to identify issues and maintain performanceTroubleshoot network outages, performance bottlenecks, routing issues, firewall rules, wireless coverage concerns, and connectivity problems using a structured diagnostic approachSupport security-focused network operations by implementing and maintaining VPNs, segmentation, access control policies, high availability, and secure remote connectivity solutionsDocument network topology, device inventories, IP schemes, circuit details, configurations, implementation plans, and support procedures to ensure operational continuityCoordinate with project managers, senior engineers, carriers, and client stakeholders to deliver network projects on schedule and with clear communicationProvide day-to-day technical support for client environments, including incident response, problem resolution, maintenance windows, and post-implementation validationRecommend practical improvements to network infrastructure, lifecycle planning, resiliency, and toolsets that improve stability, visibility, and supportabilityManage time effectively against assigned budgets, maintain accurate documentation and time entry, and escalate risks or blockers as appropriateContinue developing technical expertise through training, certifications, and hands-on experience with current networking platforms and operational toolsSkills5+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, infrastructure support, or consulting roles with responsibility for implementation and ongoing operationsExperience deploying and supporting network infrastructure components such as routers, switches, wireless systems, firewalls, SD-WAN appliances, VPN platforms, and internet circuitsStrong working knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, routing protocols, switching, NAT, DHCP, DNS, wireless networking, and network segmentationHands-on experience with leading network vendors and platforms such as Cisco, Fortinet, HPE Aruba, Palo Alto, Meraki, or similar enterprise networking technologiesExperience using operational and support tools such as network monitoring systems, configuration backup tools, logging and alerting platforms, packet capture tools, and documentation systemsAbility to troubleshoot network and security issues across LAN, WAN, wireless, and perimeter environments and clearly communicate findings and resolution stepsFamiliarity with network security concepts including VPNs, firewall policy management, secure remote access, MFA integration, and Zero Trust principlesUnderstanding of network documentation standards, change management practices, implementation planning, and post-deployment validationWillingness to travel for limited client engagement requirements, approximately 10% of the timeExposure to cloud-connected and hybrid infrastructure, including Azure networking, Microsoft 365 connectivity, and data center interconnectsAssociate- or professional-level certifications such as CCNA, Fortinet NSE/FCP, Aruba, Palo Alto, or equivalent are preferredFour-year college degree or equivalent combination of technical training and relevant industry experienceBenefitsSikich maintains a Flexible Time Off (FTO) Policy.
