[Remote] Senior Network Engineer

They are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to provide advanced networking expertise, resolve complex network and firewall issues, and contribute to technical leadership and network solutions planning.ResponsibilitiesOwn the full lifecycle of complex network and firewall incidents, from detection through resolution and post-incident review, ensuring accountability for technical outcomes, stability, and documentationLead investigation and resolution of critical network incidents, driving coordination across internal teams, vendors, and customer stakeholdersMake technical decisions and take end-to-end ownership of network issues, driving resolution without reliance on further escalationLead technical delivery of network projects, including scoping, estimation, design, and implementationPerform root cause analysis and develop long-term remediation strategies to prevent recurrenceValidate and approve network changes, designs, and remediation strategiesConfigure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco, Palo Alto, and Fortinet networking and firewall equipmentConduct targeted cleanup and improvements of existing network environments to ensure stability and scalability, minimizing customer downtimeCollaborate with the security team to ensure proper network hardening is in place and that all risks are properly mitigated or remediatedProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineersContribute to architecture documentation, diagrams, and operational runbooksMaintain awareness of developments within the networking and security technology landscape, recommending new solutions when necessaryAccurately track time and project activities within the company's time tracking systemSkillsAdvanced, hands-on experience managing enterprise firewalls across multiple platforms — including Cisco (ASA/FTD/FMC), Palo Alto Networks (PAN-OS, Panorama), and Fortinet (FortiGate, FortiManager) — including policy design, rule optimization, VPN configuration, and threat prevention10+ years of experience within an MSP, VAR, ISP, NOC, or enterprise IT environment, with a focus on troubleshooting and maintaining existing network infrastructureStrong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies including TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, IPSec, SNMP, STP, VTP, and VLANsStrong knowledge of network infrastructure within virtualized environments using VMware or similar platforms, including virtual networking, VLAN configurations, virtual switches, and network segmentationExperience troubleshooting performance and connectivity issues across different OSI layersExperience with application-level network troubleshooting, including packet inspection and analysisProven experience optimizing, securing, and consolidating complex legacy network environments to meet current and future business needsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-first approach to resolving network issuesActive CCNP certification or equivalent (Palo Alto PCNSE or Fortinet NSE 4/7 also valued)Experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and enterprise voice/unified communications infrastructureExperience with cloud networking across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including networking configurations, security settings, and integration with on-premises environmentsExperience with network security practices including network hardening, monitoring, and threat assessmentExperience working in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment with exposure to ITIL-based service delivery modelsExperience delivering customer-facing IT network projectsA degree or equivalent experience in computer science or a related fieldBenefitsMedical InsuranceDental InsuranceVision Insurance401(k) retirement plan with company match (annual dollar cap applied)Flexible time off plan15 paid holidaysSick leave (amount varies by state requirements and is at least the minimum required by any state)Short-term and long-term disabilityLife insurancePaid parental leaveCompany OverviewThe Redesign Group is a global technology and cybersecurity consulting firm leveraging design thinking, interdependent subject matter expertise, and emerging technology solutions to help organizations achieve meaningful transformation.
