[Remote] Senior Mechanical Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Sargent & Lundy Consulting (SLC) supports electric power projects by evaluating and optimizing various aspects for clients. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will provide development support, conceptual design, and technical evaluations for electric power generation projects, focusing on mechanical design and engineering reviews.ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will provide development support, conceptual design and ownerβs engineer services to clients including performing technical evaluations of electric power generation projects and facilitiesYou will also have the opportunity to support project economic and cost analysis, risk assessments, and contract developmentYour responsibilities will include engineering design reviews, technical due diligence, project development support, and conceptual designParticular experience in mechanical design of conventional power projects is desiredYou will have the opportunity to travel within North America as well as internationallySkillsThis position requires a BSME in mechanical engineering from a Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board-accredited undergraduate program or a US based ABET-accredited program with a strong academic background10 or more years of experience in the electric power industry, including experience in detailed design of the mechanical systems of conventional power projects, specifically: Simple cycle gas turbines, Combined cycle projects, Coal fired generation, Steam systems, or Reciprocating engines (RICE)Experience in development support and conceptual design of conventional power projectsExcellent technical communication and writing skills are requiredExperience in technical due diligence and owner's engineering design reviews of conventional power projects is a plusGeneral understanding of power station operations and performance reviews is a plusGeneral understanding of process design at electric power generation facilities is a plusEconomic, cost analysis, and contract development experience is a plusA familiarity with international design codes and standards is preferredOverseeing engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs, is valued but not requiredWe also value additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflowsBenefitsComprehensive healthcare plansGenerous paid time offCompetitive, award-winning benefitsYearly discretionary bonusCompany OverviewSargent & Lundy is a power generated company that provides technical expertise and integration for global use.
